Pro-life advocates in western New York are protesting plans to open a new Planned Parenthood abortion facility in their city later this year.
The billion-dollar abortion chain recently announced that it is building a new facility in Brighton, near Rochester, to reach “a younger, more diverse” clientele, Rochester First reports.
Last year, Planned Parenthood closed its facility in the nearby city of Greece, New York. According to News 8, the abortion group said it decided to relocate after a marketing analysis found that the population in Brighton is younger and more likely to use its services while the population in Greece is older.
Since pro-life advocates learned of the plans, they have been voicing their concerns to local authorities and raising awareness about the support available to mothers who choose life for their unborn babies.
In June, they held a peaceful protest outside the Planned Parenthood in Rochester, holding signs encouraging mothers to “Choose life” and telling them, “You are not alone. We can help you,” according to Rochester First.

Local pro-life advocate Ellen Duncan said they want “to just let women know that there are better options than abortion.”
“Let’s work together to truly help,” Duncan said.
The pro-life group Brighton Residents Against Violence also recently began a petition telling Brighton leaders that they do not want an abortion facility in their town.
“We are Brighton Residents Against Violence who oppose the approval of the construction of Planned Parenthood at Westfall Park Medical Center that will result in the end of thousands of lives,” the petition states. “We are here to say we do NOT want to kill our children prior to birth.”
The petition has nearly 1,400 signatures so far. Find it here.
When the abortion facility opens, pro-life advocates promised to be out on the sidewalks to offer mothers and fathers real help for themselves and their babies.
Planned Parenthood said it plans to open the new facility by the end of the year, according to the Democrat & Chronicle.
Planned Parenthood aborts more unborn babies than any other group in the U.S. Its latest annual report, which is publicly available online, shows more than 354,000 abortions, about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S.
Meanwhile, the same report showed that many of Planned Parenthood’s actual health services continue to decline. It provided less contraception, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services than the previous year, mirroring a continued downward trend. Its patient numbers also have been dropping steadily over the past decade.
Planned Parenthood has been accused repeatedly of unethical and illegal activities, including selling aborted baby body parts, botching abortions that killed women, covering up the sexual abuse of minors, discriminating against pregnant and racial minority employees, exploiting young girls by selling cross-sex hormones and more.
