Democrats Support Abortions Up to Birth But Planned Parenthood Wants More Abortion Advocacy

Supporting unrestricted abortions up to birth apparently is not enough for the largest abortion provider in America.

Ahead of the Democratic presidential debate Tuesday in Ohio, Planned Parenthood sent an email to supporters urging the debate moderators to ask just how strongly the candidates support abortion on demand.

All of the top candidates, including Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg and Kamala Harris, have said they support abortions without restriction up to birth. They would force taxpayers to pay for elective abortions, too, and many of them recently voted against a bill to protect newborns who survive abortions from infanticide.

But Planned Parenthood – which does more than 330,000 abortions a year – wants more assurances.

“In just a few hours, a dozen Democratic presidential candidates will crowd onto a stage in Westerville, Ohio. They’ll answer questions about impeachment, immigration, and jobs. But if this debate is anything like the last two, there won’t be a single question about abortion,” wrote Alexis McGill Johnson, acting president of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. “That’s unacceptable.”

She posed a series of biased questions to moderators Erin Burnett, Anderson Cooper, and Marc Lacey, including:

– How will candidates protect abortion access if the Supreme Court restricts our rights even more?

– Abortion bans are dangerous for people’s health. I want to know where Dem candidates stand on abortion access.

– How committed are they to appointing judges who will uphold the abortion protections guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and defend our fundamental rights?

– How will they protect — and expand — access to safe and legal abortion?

McGill Johnson said they want to know if abortion on demand is a top priority for the candidates.

“Access to safe and legal abortion is under attack in this country like never before, and voters deserve to know what the next president plans to do about it,” she continued. “These are the questions the debate moderators need to ask so that voters can make an informed decision.”

Voters do deserve answers from the candidates, but they deserve the truth. The current Democratic presidential candidates are some of the most extreme abortion supporters ever to run for office. Their views do not represent the American people. They are pandering to the profit-driven abortion industry, which makes billions of dollars aborting unborn babies.

Last week, Planned Parenthood announced a record $45 million election budget for 2020. It hopes to spent big to attack President Donald Trump and pro-life Republicans in the U.S. Senate.

According to Gallup polls, Americans have remained consistently opposed to abortion across the past several decades. As LifeNews reported in June, Gallup found 60% of Americans take a pro-life position on abortion wanting all (21%) or almost all 39% abortions made illegal.
