Maryland Abortion Clinics Caught Defying Order to Stop Killing Babies in Non-Essential Procedures

Abortion centers in Maryland have been caught defying orders to stop killing babies in abortions under the state mandate to stop all non-essential medical procedures.

As LifeNews reported, in a letter to the state health department, pro-life state Delegate Dan Cox asked whether the order for the stoppage of non-essential medical procedures applied to abortion centers:

Delegate Cox received a response back indicating that, yes, the order for stoppage applied to all licensed medical clinics — which would include businesses that kill babies in abortions.

Whether abortion centers in Maryland comply with the order was always the question and pro-life groups informed LifeNews.com that they are flouting the order and continuing to make abortion appointments.

“Maryland Right to Life regrets to report that abortion businesses in Maryland continue to commit elective surgical abortions and other non-urgent procedures in direct violation of Governor Larry Hogan’s COVID-19 executive order. Effective at 5:00 pm March 24th, the order applies to all licensed healthcare facilities and licensees in Maryland and prohibits all elective and non-urgent medical procedures and appointments,” Maryland Right to Life indicated. “Once again the abortion industry is putting profits over patients – and now are willfully compromising the health of actual healthcare providers and patients suffering from the COVID-19 virus.”

It continued:

Maryland Right to Life and the pro-life community seeks to protect all LIFE in Maryland. With that goal, we have been working with state lawmakers to secure a commitment from Governor Hogan and the Maryland Department of Health that abortion clinics would not be exempted from the closures. With the outstanding help of Delegate Dan Cox, we did secure that commitment from Secretary Robert Neall of the Maryland Department of Health yesterday. We are continuing to work with lawmakers and the Hogan administration to provide critical information and guidelines to the pro-life community

The issue now is one of enforcement. We are asking for the support of the pro-life community to respectfully urge Governor Hogan and Secretary Neall to issue the mandated closure of abortion clinics and to authorize the enforcement of those closures by state and local law enforcement. The state must protect women from needless exposure to COVID-19 and prioritize precious medical resources to save Marylanders lives during this pandemic.

· Please express your concerns to Governor Hogan using our automated letter-writing tool at https:/www.mdrtl.org/takeaction.html.

· Pro-life volunteers may help by identifying and reporting violations by abortion clinics and providers who continue to schedule elective procedures. If you witness or have reason to believe that a particular abortion business is continuing to schedule elective surgical abortions or other non-urgent appointments, you may report the violation to the Office of Health Care Quality at the MD Health Department at:  410-402-8015 or 877-402-8218.

Abortions are not life-saving, they are life-destroying. An unborn baby is killed, and its mother’s life is put at risk. Common abortion complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion where parts of the baby remain inside the mother’s womb. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it simply is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth. Mothers who cannot get abortions are not unhealthy as a result. They become mothers of newborn babies.

During this global pandemic, the world should be focused on doing everything it can to save lives, not kill them.
