Abortion Free New Mexico has confirmed that the Santa Fe Planned Parenthood location is not dispensing the abortion pill either in person or by telehealth appointment. Planned Parenthood’s operations in New Mexico have undergone a series of reversals: established facilities close, reopen to provide abortions, and then close again or stop providing abortions—all while another announced location in Albuquerque has yet to open.
In Santa Fe, Planned Parenthood operated for years before closing and subsequently reopening. On May 11, 2026, AFNM reported that the reopened facility was providing chemical abortions through 11 weeks of pregnancy.

Now, AFNM has documented another reversal: Planned Parenthood’s Santa Fe webpage states,
“This health center doesn’t provide abortion services.”
“Abortion is legal in New Mexico, but isn’t offered at this health center.”
The Santa Fe facility continues to list other services. AbortionFinder describes abortion services there as “temporarily paused,” while the reviewed pages provide no explanation or date for resuming abortions.
An undercover call placed by Tara Shaver confimed that the Santa Fe Planned Parenthood was not currently sceduling abortion appointments and could not confirm that abortion services would resume there in the near future.
The Santa Fe development echoes a reversal AFNM documented in Albuquerque, where Planned Parenthood’s Northeast Heights facility reopened to provide abortions, then permanently closed just months later.
NORTHEAST HEIGHTS: REOPENED, THEN PERMANENTLY CLOSED
On April 9, 2026, AFNM reported that Planned Parenthood’s Northeast Heights facility had reopened and was providing medication abortions.
Months later, AFNM photographed a notice posted at the facility declaring:
“THIS HEALTH CENTER IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.”
WASHINGTON STREET: PLANNED ABORTION LOCATION HAS YET TO OPEN
In its September 8 investigation, AFNM documented installed signage, a federal provider registration, and recruitment materials describing a new health center opening soon. A TEEN’MPower representative also told Tara Shaver by telephone that the new location would provide medication abortions.
According to AFNM’s latest monitoring, the planned health center has yet to open.
Planned Parenthood’s TEEN’MPower youth program operates in Suite E at the same property, while the planned health center occupies Suite A. AFNM previously documented recruitment for clinical and management positions at the new location. Those recruitment efforts raise the possibility that staffing challenges are contributing to the delayed opening, although AFNM has not confirmed the cause.
NATIONAL AMBITIONS, LOCAL REVERSALS
The facility changes come against a backdrop of declining interstate travel to New Mexico for abortions. In 2023, Axios and Guttmacher published estimates put the number of out-of-state patients at approximately 14,900. Guttmacher highlights the gradual decline to 13,000 in 2024, and 10,000 in 2025—a decline of roughly one-third between 2023 and 2025.
These remain enormous and, in AFNM’s view, deeply troubling and tragic numbers. But the documented trend in out-of-state abortion travel is downward, even as New Mexico’s leaders pursue further expansion.
Bud Shaver, Executive Director of Abortion Free New Mexico, stated:
“New Mexico’s leaders aren’t just pushing a radical abortion agenda on our own state—they are working to make New Mexico an abortion destination for the rest of the country. Yet the developments we are documenting tell a different story: a reopened Planned Parenthood permanently closes, another stops providing abortions, and a new location remains unopened. Separately, privately operated Alamo Women’s Clinic closed its Montgomery Boulevard location in Albuquerque and consolidated services at its sister facility, Southwestern Women’s Options.
In our view, New Mexico’s leaders are propping up a failing abortion industry. Their national ambitions are colliding with the reality of closures, consolidation, and service reductions here at home.
“Political ideology cannot keep an abortion facility open. New Mexico’s leaders may be determined to expand abortion, but these closures and service reductions show that political will alone cannot turn their plans into reality.”
AFNM will continue documenting whether abortion services resume, relocate, or cease permanently at these locations. Its sidewalk outreach team remains committed to offering compassionate support and practical assistance to women and families who choose life.
Tara Shaver added:
“New Mexico’s leaders are working to expand abortion under the guise of ‘health care.’ We are working toward an Abortion Free New Mexico where every pre-born child is valued and protected. Every facility that stops providing abortions renews our resolve. We will continue documenting these developments and standing beside mothers with practical help, because the future we are working toward is one where mothers receive the support they need and their children have the opportunity to live.”
