After Putting Pro-Life Advocate Lauren Handy in Prison for Protesting Abortion, Biden’s Targeting Her Again

Biden’s Department of Justice isn’t done coming after Lauren Handy…

Not even a full week had passed since Lauren’s sentencing hearing—where she was sentenced to a whopping 57 months in federal prison—when the Biden DOJ filed in Ohio federal court another FACE Act case against her…

That’s right: Just six days after getting their wish with Lauren’s brutal 57-month sentence, the Biden DOJ went right back into federal court to slap her with another FACE Act lawsuit.

This time they’re dragging Lauren to court to prevent her from ever again peacefully handing out red roses to pregnant moms at abortion facilities.

Instead of criminal charges and prison-time in this case, Biden’s prosecutors are seeking ruinous civil penalties against Lauren and veteran pro-lifer Monica Miller, who is also our client…

Here’s how our ace litigator, Martin Cannon, Thomas More Society Senior Counsel, reacted to this latest DOJ attack on peaceful pro-lifers:

“Hardly one week has passed since Lauren Handy was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison, and the Biden Department of Justice is already coming after her again using the FACE Act. This time, the DOJ is seeking to impose crushing fines to the tune of the tens of thousands of dollars, and other penalties, on her and veteran pro-lifer Monica Miller—for utterly peaceable and compassionate pro-life conduct at an Ohio abortion business.

‘Red Rose Rescues’ are peaceful events where participants counsel outside the abortion business or walk in and sit with pregnant mothers in abortionists’ waiting rooms, giving them red roses and offering them the help and assistance they need to choose life—in the exact moment when they’re in dire need of compassionate support. These are not threatening or intimidating actions that violate the FACE Act, despite the caricature that the DOJ would like the public to believe.”

Here’s the reality: The red roses given during ‘Red Rose Rescues’ are visible signs of life, peace, and love for the mothers and their babies at abortion businesses.

You and I know that peacefully sharing the pro-life message with these mothers in need is truly not a violation of the FACE Act.

This case is not the first of its kind, but it’s another outrageous attempt by the Biden DOJ to weaponize the FACE Act—by reaching back years, to before the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs, to drudge up anything to persecute peaceful pro-lifers.

Peaceful and compassionate activism, like what Lauren and Monica have dedicated their lives to, should not be met with ruinous federal charges. We will vigorously defend Lauren and Monica’s innocence in this case and continue to fight for the freedom of peaceful pro-lifers across the country.

Thank you for all that you do to help support our mission. As we prepare to fight this battle, please continue to pray for Lauren as she is transferred to a new federal facility following her sentencing.
