Leading up to Father’s Day, a young dad on TikTok shared how deeply he regrets having once wanted to abort his daughter.
The father shared a short video on his social media account @only1godfrey asking for God’s forgiveness as he held the baby girl in his arms and kissed her.
“God please forgive me: see the beautiful soul I wanted to abort,” the man wrote.
Fathers play an important role in pregnancy as well as parenthood, and their support or lack of support for the mother and child often influence abortion decisions. Men sometimes pressure or coerce their partners into aborting unborn babies. In other cases, men beg their pregnant partners not to go through with an abortion but do not succeed.
In a recent column, Kevin Burke, LSW, a pastoral associate of Priests for Life and co-founder of the post-abortion healing ministry Rachel’s Vineyard, shared how abortion hurts men as well as women and babies. He shared three men’s stories through the Silent No More Awareness Campaign:
“I realized how small of a man I was ’cause if I had gone with her that day, I probably would have realized what had happened, I would have seen how upset how broken she was, and taken her by the hand and said, ‘Let’s get out of this place.’” -Steve

“I didn’t defend the life of my own daughter based on misinformation, selfishness, fear, and shame. I let her die to an abortionist knife and I died the same day.” – Scott
“I wonder what my son or daughter would look like today if I would have stood up and be a man and fight for the life of my child.” – Miguel
For the young man on TikTok, his family’s story had a happy ending. His baby girl is alive, even though he once thought he wanted her dead.
His short video sends a life-affirming message – and one backed by research. Many moms and dads regret aborting their unborn babies, but almost none regret choosing life.
