Joe Biden Claims “We’re All Created Equal in the Image of God.” But He Excludes Unborn Babies

Joe Biden contradicted himself about the value of human life in a speech at Howard University, claiming everyone is “created equally in the image of God” and then advocating for killing unborn babies in abortions.

The Democrat leader spoke at the commencement ceremony May 13 in Washington, D.C., addressing the 2023 graduates of historically black college. His claim that “white supremacy” is the greatest threat to America received a lot of attention, but Biden’s comments about human value, abortion and motherhood also were notable.

Biden began the speech by encouraging graduates to “stand for your mothers and grandmothers” in honor of Mother’s Day, saying, “Where I come from, moms rule.” However, the Biden administration has been working actively to discourage and destroy motherhood through its radical pro-abortion policies.

The president went on to praise America as a unique country because it was “founded on an idea — not geography, not religion, not ethnicity.” That idea being that all human beings are created equal.

“The sacred proposition rooted in Scripture and enshrined in the Declaration of Independence that we’re all created equal in the image of God and deserve to be treated equally throughout our lives. While we’ve never fully lived up to that promise, we never before fully walked away from it,” Biden said.

He urged the graduates “to stand up for truth over lies — lies told for power and profit” and “to choose love over hate, unity over disunion, progress over retreat.” Biden said he wants a better “future for all Americans.”

But later in his speech, Biden contradicted himself by briefly mentioning abortion. He told the Howard University graduates that he would fight to “protect fundamental rights and freedoms for women to choose.”

Biden’s support for abortion shows that he does not believe or follow his own stated ideals. He turned his back on unborn babies’ right to life decades ago and embraced a radical pro-abortion agenda: one that calls for legalizing abortions for basically any reason up to birth and forcing taxpayers to pay for them. In exchange, the billion-dollar abortion industry spent massive amounts of money to get him elected.

The Rev. Jim Harden, a medical ethicist, author and CEO of CompassCare Pregnancy Services in New York, responded to Biden’s speech at the American Thinker this week: “Biden is using the pro-life vision of humanity not because he believes it, but in order to peddle the age-old concept that government is god, fashioning Americans into its own image through fabricated rights, including abortion and transgender child mutilation.”

Harden slammed the president and his administration for treating unborn babies as disposable objects and pro-lifers as “second-class citizens.” Last year, Harden’s pregnancy center was badly damaged in an arson attack in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, but there have not been any arrests. Many pro-lifers believe the FBI and Department of Justice have deprioritized investigations into attacks on pro-lifers.

Meanwhile, “Maoist Antifa domestic terrorists who violently attack pro-life people, even Supreme Court Justices, have been given a pass, and law enforcement trained to consider pro-life moms as terror threats,” Harden continued.

Pro-life leaders also are worried that Biden is working to erode conscience protections and religious freedom for pro-life doctors and nurses, businesses and charities in ways that could force them to participate in or pay for killing unborn babies.

Actions speak louder than words, and the Biden administration’s actions show that it does not believe everyone is valuable, equal or worthy of the most basic human rights.
