New mother Haylee Ladner does not mind the 3 a.m. feedings, the lack of sleep or the crying from her five babies.
The Purvis, Mississippi mother has her hands full, but she told Good Morning America that she treasures every moment with her quintuplets after praying for a baby for years.
“I know that a lot of people are probably like, ‘How are you doing this? How are you not going crazy?’ It’s because I’ve wanted to have a baby my entire life,” she told the news outlet. “… They’re my biggest blessing that I have and so I don’t mind it. I don’t mind the chaos.”
On Sunday, Ladner and her husband, Shawn, will celebrate their first Mother’s Day together with their children: Jake, Magnolia, Adalyn, Everleigh and Malley Kate.
What makes the day even more special is that the Ladners will be home. The quintuplets spent approximately two months in Children’s of Mississippi Hospital in Jackson after they were born prematurely, and only recently were discharged, according to the report.
Haylee Ladner gave birth to the quintuplets on Feb. 16 at 28 weeks of pregnancy; her due date was May 10, and many expected the babies would remain in the hospital at least until then. Instead, all five thrived and the last two were discharged on May 5, Good Morning America reports.
“I’m just lucky that I get to be here, in my own home, with my babies and get to spend that day and look back at all the things that I’ve been through and that they’ve been through to get to where we are now,” Ladner said.

She said she and Shawn lost two babies to miscarriage and suffered through three failed infertility treatments before they conceived their babies last year.
“We both agree it’s the greatest thing that we could have ever been given and so we’re enjoying it,” Ladner said.
Caring for five infants is challenging and exhausting, but she said their family and church have been very supportive. The Mississippi mom and dad also remember that every moment is a blessing with their new babies.
“Every day that I get to spend with them and look at them, I just think about all those years I spent wanting a baby and crying and going through loss and all of those things and just wondering, ‘Why isn’t this happening for me?’” she told the news outlet.
“And then I look down at these beautiful babies and I’m like, ‘You were meant to be mine. You were worth every single step that I had to take to get here and if I had to do it all over again, I would do it in a heartbeat,’” Ladner continued.
She said she has been trying to enjoy every moment, even when she feels sleep-deprived, because children grow up so fast.
“I just want them to know how special they are. And it’s not even just about them being … [a] rare orientation of quintuplets,” she said. “I just want them to know how much I love them and how special they are.”
