Abortion Pills are Injuring Countless Women, Leaving Parts of the Dead Baby Inside Them

One woman described the pain of the abortion pill as “worse than childbirth.” Another broke down in tears as she recalled the shock and horror of seeing her aborted baby’s body in the toilet.

Emergency room physicians and OB-GYNs say women are coming to them suffering complications because the abortion industry sells abortion pills online and then abandons women to fend for themselves.

These are the stories few mainstream news outlets are covering amid a high-profile legal battle over the abortion drug mifepristone. Doctors with the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine recently sued the U.S. Food and Drug Administration over its approval and later expansion of mifepristone as an elective abortion drug. They say the FDA decision was political and the drug is dangerous and should be removed from the market.

The drug has been used to intentionally kill millions of unborn babies in the U.S. Doctors say it also is more dangerous for pregnant mothers than what the abortion industry often claims. Dr. Christina Francis, CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, is one of the doctors involved in the lawsuit.

An Indiana OB-GYN, Francis told National Review about a woman who came into the emergency room bleeding heavily after she took abortion pills she had ordered online. The Biden administration recently began allowing abortion pills to be sold through the mail without any direct medical supervision.

Francis said tests showed the young woman was having kidney problems and likely had an infection in her uterus. She treated the woman and she survived.

But the case is just one of many witnessed by Francis and other doctors who say women are being sold abortion pills without being told about the risks or given an adequate medical evaluation. And when women suffer complications, they go to their local OB-GYN or emergency room because the abortionist is not available.

“When I was in my medical training, I feel like we had it drilled into our heads that when you treat a patient, when you give a patient a drug, when you do surgery on a patient, when they’re your patient they’re your responsibility,” she told National Review. “And we just don’t see that sense of responsibility from most providers of abortion, and certainly not from a website that gives them no continuing care and no support from the medical system whatsoever.”

Dr. Ingrid Skop, a Texas OB-GYN and vice president of the Charlotte Lozier Institute, told the magazine that it is “absolutely the case that those of us who don’t do abortions are cleaning up after these complications.”

She said women are being told the lie that abortion pills are safer than common pain medications like Tylenol, but “they don’t recognize that it actually, the misoprostol puts them into labor.”

In a personal testimony submitted to the U.S. Supreme Court in the abortion pill case, a woman named Patricia said Planned Parenthood lied to her about the amount of pain and bleeding she would experience.

“Within one hour I knew that everything the doctor had told me was a lie. I was bleeding so heavily, I believed I was dying … and I was in the worst physical pain of my life, worse than childbirth,” Patricia said. “The worst part of my experience was when I was sitting on the toilet and I felt myself pass a clot that felt strange. I looked into the toilet and saw my baby. It had a head, body, and tiny arms and legs.”

Along with the physical complications, Skop confirmed that doctors also are seeing patients with psychological trauma from the abortion pill. The abortion industry tells them that their unborn baby is just “pregnancy tissue” or a “clump of cells,” but many realize too late that it was a baby.

“The lower gestational ages, I would say kind of looks like the tip of your pinky, kind of pinkish tissue,” she said. “But eight to ten weeks, they can see a baby.”

The FDA approves mifepristone to abort unborn babies up to 10 weeks of pregnancy – but some abortionists use it later. It works by blocking the hormone progesterone and basically starving the unborn baby to death. Typically, abortion groups also prescribe a second drug, misoprostol, to induce labor and expel the baby’s body.

A 20-year-old mother named Natalia recently opened up about seeing her aborted baby’s body after taking the abortion pills at home last year. In a heartbreaking interview with Live Action, Natalia said the abortion pill was not “like a heavy period” – something abortion groups frequently tell women.

“It’s actually a child,” she said.

In some cases, however, the abortion pill does not fully work, and the woman’s aborted baby remains in her body, putting her at risk of infection, infertility and future pregnancy complications, according to National Review.

Skop said she recently treated a woman in the emergency room who had been bleeding daily for two months after taking the abortion pill; parts of her aborted baby and pregnancy tissue were still in her womb.

Here’s more from the report:

Skop said she performed a surgery to evacuate the tissue. She then called the pill provider in California to let them know about the complication. She said she questioned why they didn’t perform a surgical abortion, which is less likely to result in complications.

“And he goes, ‘We don’t offer them if we know they’re going to travel the next day. We don’t give them a surgical abortion because they might bleed on the plane.’ I’m thinking to myself, ‘Do you know what a chemical abortion does?’” Skop said, adding that the California abortionist proceeded to yell at her about the need to change Texas’s anti-abortion laws. …

“If we profess to say we care for [women],” she said, “we need to care for them better than this.”

Studies indicate abortion risks are more common than what abortion activists often claim, with about one in 17 women requiring hospital treatment. A recent study by the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that the rate of abortion-related emergency room visits by women taking the abortion drug increased more than 500 percent between 2002 and 2015.

Another recent study from the University of Toronto, “Short-Term Adverse Outcomes After Mifepristone–Misoprostol Versus Procedural Induced Abortion,” published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, found that one in ten women who took the abortion pill went to the emergency room, according to Pregnancy Help News.

The FDA has linked mifepristone to 28 women’s deaths between 2000 and 2018. At least two more women have died since then, although the number likely is much higher. Under the Obama administration, the FDA stopped requiring non-fatal complications from mifepristone to be reported.

In recent years, abortion drugs have been used for more than half of all abortions in the U.S., killing hundreds of thousands of unborn babies annually, according to the Guttmacher Institute.

Meanwhile, the Biden administration has been trying to expand the life-destroying drugs even further, first by allowing mifepristone to be sold through the mail without any direct medical supervision, and, more recently, by allowing pharmacies like Walgreens, CVS and RiteAid to sell them.
