Democrats Introduce 17 Bills to Make California the Most Pro-Abortion State in America

California Democrat lawmakers introduced a slew of new bills this month to make their state a “safe haven” for killing unborn babies in abortions.

On March 13, members of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus and the California Future of Abortion Council boasted about passing 14 pro-abortion bills last year and approving an additional $200 million tax dollars for abortion in the state budget.

“And we’re not done, not by a long shot,” said state Sen. Nancy Skinner, D-Berkeley, chair of the caucus, as they introduced 17 additional bills.

A complete list of the bills published on the caucus website shows plans to provide pro-abortion propaganda to public school students and to fund a “public information campaign” attacking pro-life pregnancy resource centers. Another bill would allow out-of-state medical school graduates to provide abortion and transgender treatments in California for up to 90 days.

California already requires public colleges to provide abortions on campus, and Assembly Bill 598 appears to be a step toward doing the same at the high school level. It would require all public schools to provide resources to students about where to get abortions, including late-term abortions.

These resources also would promote aborting unborn babies as a “positive” thing. According to Breitbart, the bill says the materials will discuss “community attitudes toward reproductive care with an emphasis on positive community tenets such as inclusivity and support in conversations surrounding abortion and contraception.”

In total, pro-abortion lawmakers have a 45-point legislative wish list for the coming years, according to the report. One not yet addressed in the current slate of bills calls for addressing “existing barriers to abortion care later in pregnancy” – in other words, expanding late-term abortions that kill viable, pain-capable unborn babies.

The legislation is a project of the California Future of Abortion Council, a group of abortion industry leaders and lawmakers that Gov. Gavin Newsom established expressly for the purpose of working to expand abortions.

As Breitbart explained, the council’s plans “are overtly aimed at expanding the abortion business overall, limiting or silencing pro-life views, especially pro-life pregnancy resource centers, appealing to women in states with strong pro-life laws, and influencing young people to embrace abortion as a normal pregnancy outcome.”

California has very few limits on abortion, and it forces taxpayers to pay for them. A new law that just went into effect forces all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus – even though California already has the highest number of abortion facilities in the country: 168, according to an ANSIRH study.

Under another new law, nurses and other medical workers who are applying for licenses in the state may have their applications expedited if they agree to do abortions. California also began offering financial incentives to medical students to become abortionists this year.

In June, Newsom signed a budget with $200 million dedicated specifically to expanding abortions, including a new, government-run website that tells women from other states how to come to California to abort their unborn babies.

It also includes $40 million to pay to abort unborn babies whose mothers do not already qualify for a Medicaid-funded abortion or have insurance coverage for the elective, life-destroying procedure, and $15 million to help pro-abortion groups advertise and promote abortions.

California aborted approximately 154,000 unborn babies in 2020, according to the Guttmacher Institute; but many expect those numbers will grow as a result of Democrats’ efforts.
