Senator Vows to Block All Biden Defense Nominees to Stop His Military Abortion Agenda

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-AL, announced Friday that he will prevent the advancement of all nominees to positions in the Department of Defense until the agency reverses course on a new spate of policies that would put taxpayer dollars toward abortions for military personnel.

“The Secretary of Defense is following through with his radical plan to facilitate thousands of abortions a year with taxpayer dollars,” Tuberville stated. “So, I will follow through with my plan to hold all Department of Defense (DoD) civilian, flag, and general officer nominations that come before the U.S. Senate.”

Tuberville’s announcement was lightning fast, coming on the heels of an announcement just one day earlier from the Pentagon.

The Pentagon issued three policies aimed at providing what the liberal news site Politico called “easing access to abortion and other reproductive care for troops and family members.”

Politico noted:

The Defense Department will cover costs for troops who must travel to obtain abortions and will permit up to 21 days of administrative absence for troops to obtain an abortion or other reproductive care or accompany a spouse or dependent. DoD will also allow service members to wait up to 20 weeks of pregnancy before notifying commanders.

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin last year pledged that the Biden Defense Department would take actions to facilitate abortions in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade – a part of President Joe Biden’s promised “all-of-government” effort to promote abortion despite the Court.

“Prior to joining the United States Senate, Tommy Tuberville was the successful and popular head football coach at Auburn University,” commented CatholicVote Director of Government Affairs Tom McClusky. “As a result, most people call him ‘Coach’ rather than ‘Senator,’” he said:

Coach is really showing his old leadership skills on the Hill by standing against the Biden administration’s effort to turn the U.S. military into a taxpayer-funded abortion mill. CatholicVote will be encouraging other senators to join Coach in his bold stand.
