Teachers Union Wants to Kill Future Students in Abortions and Make You Pay for Them

The National Education Association wants to force taxpayers to pay for public school teachers to abort their unborn babies, including with dangerous mail-order abortion drugs.

In February, the teachers’ union published a report, “Bargaining & Advocacy in a Post Roe Environment,” that urges its affiliates to demand that school districts, which are taxpayer-funded, cover abortions or abortion travel expenses and paid time off for employees as part of their contract bargaining.

The NEA issued the report in response to the Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, which overturned Roe v. Wade and allows states to protect unborn babies from abortion again. Now, 14 states protect unborn babies and more are working to do the same. As a result, thousands of babies and mothers are being spared from abortion.

Tens of thousands of doctors confirm killing unborn babies is not health care, and nearly all abortions are elective. However, pro-abortion groups like the NEA claim women need to abort their unborn babies to be healthy and successful.

“NEA supports bargaining for broad comprehensive reproductive health care coverage,” including elective abortions and abortion travel expenses, the union said.

If local unions are not successful, the NEA tells them to make “efforts … through joint-health care committees, board policy, or other advocacy” to cover elective, life-destroying abortions for teachers.

Here’s more from the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs, which first noticed the report:

The union advises that contracts should require that teachers’ health insurance, which is taxpayer-funded in Oklahoma, include coverage of “in-clinic and medication abortion services.” …

The report also urges its affiliates to demand coverage for mail delivery of abortion drugs, in part to lower the cost of those drugs, and that prescriptions for those drugs be provided via telehealth consultations rather than an in-person meeting with a doctor. The report also states that “telehealth across state lines is a benefit that can also be bargained.”

The NEA told local unions to demand travel reimbursement for employees as well in states like Oklahoma where unborn babies are protected from abortion.

“In situations where individuals requiring an abortion or other reproductive care are forced to travel great distances, the need for substantially more paid leave will be necessary,” the report states. “Therefore, unions should consider addressing these needs in bargaining.”

However, the NEA does not represent most Americans. Polls consistently show that Americans oppose taxpayer funding for abortions. A recent Marist poll found 60 percent of Americans oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions in the U.S., and 78 percent oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions in other countries.

The powerful teachers union has been pro-abortion for years. In 2019, the NEA Representative Assembly passed a measure declaring abortion to be a “fundamental right,” and attacked former President Donald Trump and other pro-life politicians who work to protect unborn babies from being slaughtered.

For years, LifeNews has reported about the large donations NEA and other unions make to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion chain in America, and pro-abortion political candidates. In 2011, it gave $60 million to support President Barack Obama for re-election.
