Pro-Life Justice Daniel Kelly has advanced in the crucial Wisconsin Supreme Court that will very likely determine whether Wisconsin continues protecting babies from abortions.

A liberal Milwaukee judge and a conservative former state Supreme Court justice won Tuesday’s primary to face off in the runoff election in April. Kelly will take on pro-abortion Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Janet Protasiewicz, who has the support of radical pro-abortion organizations. Leading pro-life groups lined up behind Kelly’s candidacy.

Conservatives currently hold a 4-3 majority on the court, but this race could potentially move the state’s highest court in the pro-abortion direction, making it so abortion activists can file a lawsuit to overturn the state’s abortion ban and turn Wisconsin into another abortion destination killing thousands of babies every year.

Protasiewicz won with about 46% of the vote, while Kelly came in second with about 24%. Protasiewicz and the other liberal candidate combined for nearly 54% while Kelly and another conservative combined to receive 46% — which means pro-life advocates have a lot of work to do before the April runoff.

Kelly said the campaign was now “starting all over at ground zero and having a conversation with people all across the state.”

“I think they are going to be passionate about supporting their constitution and protecting it from being overturned by someone who is trying to put her thumb on the scales of justice,” he said.

Kelly said voters “don’t want to gamble on who the next Supreme Court justice is. They want to have someone who has a proven public record of being faithful to the constitution and to the people of Wisconsin. And I see my record as doing that. And I think that’s what makes the difference.”

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America congratulated Kelly and confirmed it will work hard to support him in the April election. Women Speak Out PAC, a partner of SBA Pro-Life America, supports Kelly. The group committed six figures to increase awareness of the primary election, sharing Justice Kelly’s proven record of respecting life, the Constitution and the rule of law through contact mail, live phone calls and text messages.

SBA Pro-Life America’s Director of State Public Affairs Kelsey Pritchard urges voters to continue to be engaged in this race:

“Justice Kelly’s advancement in this critically important race is a clear sign Wisconsinites care about saving lives and preserving the rule of law. Justice Kelly is the alternative to extreme pro-abortion judges who want to impose their personal political agenda from the bench, and who can prevent the state’s highest court from being turned into a mere tool of the radical abortion lobby. Justice Kelly’s track record serving on the state’s high court reflects his commitment to respect for the law and the will of the people of Wisconsin. We encourage voters to continue supporting him in the general election this April and look forward to a victory over pro-abortion extremism.”
