Maryland Gov. Wes Moore Will Spend $3.5 Million to Train Abortionists to Kill Babies

Democrat Maryland Gov. Wes Moore used one of his first acts as governor this week to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

On Thursday, he approved $3.5 million in taxpayer dollars to train more abortionists in the state, according to the Associated Press. Moore took office Wednesday.

“We’ve said it before, and we will say it again: Maryland needs to be a state that is a safe haven for abortion rights,” he said.

However, the money will make Maryland an even more dangerous place for babies in the womb than it already is. The state allows unborn babies to be aborted for basically any reason up to birth, and is home to at least two late-term abortion facilities.

Last year, Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, refused to approve the funding that the Democrat-controlled state legislature created as part of a new pro-abortion law, according to the report.

Hogan vetoed the legislation, but Democrat lawmakers overrode his veto. However, he still had the power to stop the funding.

Here’s more from the report:

[The legislation] created a training program that requires $3.5 million in state funding annually. Without the previous governor’s approval, the legislature could only mandate the money for future fiscal years. The new governor’s action makes the money available for the state health department to start the training statewide this fiscal year.

That same legislation ended a requirement that abortions be done by physicians. Now, Maryland allows nurse practitioners, nurse midwives and physician assistants to abort unborn babies, and the money that Moore approved Thursday will be used to train them.

Democrat governors in California, New Jersey, Washington state and New York have approved similar funding to expand killing unborn babies in abortions in their states.

Maryland does not report its abortion numbers to the Centers for Disease Control, so it is not clear exactly how many unborn babies are killed there every year. Johnston’s Archive reported an estimated 30,750 abortions in 2020 based on research from the Guttmacher Institute.
