This year’s historic March for Life will be a time of mourning and celebration for pro-life Americans as the end of Roe v. Wade brings about new opportunities to save unborn babies from abortion.
On Friday, hundreds of thousands of Americans from across the U.S. are expected to travel to Washington, D.C. for the annual rally, which began 50 years ago to protest the infamous U.S. Supreme Court ruling.
Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, said this year’s theme, “Next Steps: Marching into a Post-Roe America,” serves as a reminder that pro-life advocates still are working hard to save unborn babies from abortion.
“With Roe now behind us, we are empowered to save countless innocent American lives by continuing to advocate for commonsense protections at the state and federal level, educating Americans on the intrinsic dignity of all human life,” Mancini said. “This year will be a somber reminder of the millions of lives lost to abortion in the past 50 years, but also a celebration of how far we have come and where we as a movement need to focus our effort as we enter this new era in our quest to protect life.”
Since Roe in 1973, more than 64 million unborn babies have been aborted legally. The infamous ruling forced states to legalize the killing of unborn babies in abortions up to viability and allowed abortions up to birth. In June, the Supreme Court overturned Roe in the case Dobbs v. Jackson, which returns the power to legislate abortion to the American people.
Now, 14 states have laws in place that protect unborn babies from abortion, and more are trying to do the same.

One of the keynote speakers at the march will be Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch, who led the Dobbs case and helped to restore protections for babies in the womb.
Other speakers represent the many ways pro-lifers continue to work to save babies and help mothers and fathers, whether through charity services, education, legislation or medical advocacy.
They include Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse; Sister Mary Casey of the Sisters of Life; Dr. Christina Francis, CEO-elect of the American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs; and Gina Tomes, program director of the Bethlehem House maternity home.
Actor Jonathan Roumie, best known for his award-winning role as “Jesus” in “The Chosen” and Pro-Football Hall of Famer Coach Tony Dungy also will speak. Others include U.S. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise; U.S. Rep. Chris Smith and Connecticut state Rep. Treneé McGhee, a pro-life Democrat.
The march will begin at noon Friday with a rally at the National Mall, followed by a march around the Capitol to the U.S. Supreme Court building. A pre-rally concert with We Are Messengers will start at 11 a.m.
