New billboards that encourage families to choose life for their unborn babies will be going up in the same places where California Gov. Gavin Newsom pushed his “blasphemous” pro-abortion billboard campaign last year, a pro-life coalition said this week.
An initiative of the Coalition for an Abortion Free Future, the pro-life billboards encourage Americans to “Save sex for marriage” and “Plan your future, not your abortion,” according to Christian Headlines.
Whereas Newsom’s billboards urged women to come to California and pay to have their unborn babies aborted, the pro-life coalition billboards highlight free, life-affirming resources to help pregnant and parenting families in need. The advertisements encourage people to visit AbortionlessFuture.com, a website with information about free ultrasounds, pregnancy and parenting support services, post-abortion counseling and more.
The coalition slammed Newsom’s pro-abortion campaign as “blasphemous” after he purchased billboards advertising abortions in pro-life states last fall. Some of the billboards even quoted the Bible to promote killing unborn babies in abortions.
The new pro-life billboards will be going up in the same places where Newsom’s were, according to the report. Mark Harrington, spokesman for the coalition, said they want to challenge people not only to choose life but also to think about how sexual irresponsibility and abortion frequently are linked.

“We need to have a conversation in this country – including in the pro-life movement – about the true cause of most abortions,” Harrington said. “The billboards are intended to remind people of the inconvenient truth that the main driver of abortion is irresponsible sexual activity.”
His pro-life coalition blamed the billion-dollar abortion industry for promoting risky sexual behavior, describing it as “a predatory marketing scheme … to ensure a steady stream of revenue.” The coalition website also cites statistics that show 85 percent of all abortions are done on unmarried women.
“Abortionists encourage people to be sexually active at a young age so they can sell abortion as a ‘fix’ to unplanned pregnancy,” the coalition said.
Politicians like Newsom promote the abortion industry’s dangerous agenda because they receive huge campaign donations from pro-abortion groups.
In September, Newsom shocked Christians by paying for billboards in pro-life states that quote scripture to promote abortions.
“Want an abortion? California is ready to help,” one billboard states. Beneath the words are a quote from Jesus from Mark 12:21: “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.” It also advertises a new, taxpayer-funded California government website that promotes abortions.
California aborted approximately 154,000 unborn babies in 2020, according to the Guttmacher Institute. Many expect those numbers will grow as a result of Newsom’s actions within the past several years.
California has very few limits on abortion, and it forces taxpayers to pay for them. A new law that just went into effect forces all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus – even though California has the highest number of abortion facilities in the country at 168, according to a new ANSIRH study.
