AOC Says It’s Okay to Kill Babies in Abortions to Improve Your Finances

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez presented aborting unborn babies as an answer to women’s financial struggles Thursday, pitting women against their own children instead of supporting them both.

Responding to the midterm election results, in which Republicans ran primarily on economic issues and Democrats on abortion on demand, the New York Democrat said many Americans linked the struggling economy with keeping abortions legal when they voted Tuesday, leading to pro-abortion wins in several states, Business Insider reports.

Ocasio-Cortez said it is “so out to touch to imply that abortion isn’t an economic issue.”

“Few things impact one’s finances more than a having a child! When a politician is trying to force you to have a baby in a country [without] guaranteed healthcare or childcare, abortion is a HUGE economic issue,” she continued in a post on Twitter.

Ocasio-Cortez is partly correct. Many women do seek abortions in desperation, fearing they cannot afford a child. But the congresswoman’s solution — expanding abortions – is wrong.

In an interview with The Intercept, she said she wants Congress to “codify Roe.” But Democrats’ legislation actually would go much further than the overturned 1973 ruling by forcing every state to legalize aborting unborn babies for basically any reason up to birth and forcing taxpayers to pay for elective abortions. It also would end parental consent for minors and jeopardize religious freedom for pro-life medical professionals.

Ocasio-Cortez wants to spend Americans’ tax dollars on elective abortions that destroy unborn babies’ lives when what mothers really need is more encouragement and support to choose life for their unborn babies.

Many abortion supporters point to a prominent study from the University of California San Francisco that found women denied abortions faced “worse financial outcomes” and “experienced an increase in household poverty lasting at least four years” in comparison with women who aborted their unborn babies.

What most abortion activists fail to mention, however, is the same study also found that 96 percent of women who were denied abortions later were glad they had their babies – a strong indication that they recognized their children’s lives are more valuable than wealth.

Killing a baby before birth is not a solution to poverty any more than killing a child after birth is. Both are wrong. Every child, born and unborn, is valuable and worthy of protection. When expecting parents consider abortion because of financial struggles, the solution should be to provide the family with support so that they and their children can thrive. That is what pro-life advocates are doing every day, caring for the whole family through thousands of pregnancy resource centers, maternity homes and numerous other charities across the nation.
