Mike Pence: “Democrats Support Abortion Up to the Moment of Birth.” So Vote Pro-Life

Former Vice President Mike Pence slammed the Democratic Party for its radical pro-abortion position Saturday, saying its leaders want to force taxpayers to pay for aborting unborn babies up to birth.

Speaking with Breitbart News, Pence, a pro-life Republican, said he believes Americans will reject Democrats at the ballot box in November, in part, because their abortion agenda is so extreme.

“It’s not just that the Democrats support abortion up to the moment of birth. They support taxpayer funding of abortion up to the moment of birth,” he said.

In recent weeks, Republican candidates have been gaining ground in the polls leading up to the midterm elections, and experts predict they will regain control of the U.S. House and possibly the Senate. Pence told Breitbart that one of the reasons why Republicans are doing so well is because Americans do not want taxpayer-funded abortion on demand.

“We have a competitive Senate race in Washington state right now. Because you’ve got a wonderful woman there running for the U.S. Senate who is standing unapologetically for life,” he said, referring to Republican candidate Tiffany Smiley. She is running against U.S. Sen. Patty Murray, a Democrat incumbent with a lengthy pro-abortion record.

Pence said the overturning of Roe v. Wade energized pro-life voters as well as abortion activists, and now the people have the power to decide when unborn babies’ lives should be protected. He said most Americans do not want our laws to be like China and North Korea where it is legal to abort an unborn baby for any reason up to birth.

“I think we’ve exposed the extremism of the abortion rights Democratic Party,” Pence continued. “And I think you have men and women running for office around the country that are expressing principle and compassion in the cause for life, and the American people are responding accordingly.”

From restoring the economy to cracking down on crime, protecting the border and saving unborn babies from abortion, “Republicans are staying focused on what the American people are focused on, and that’s why we got a great, great day coming on November 8,” he said.

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll shows Republican candidates gained 4 points on Democrats among undecided voters.

Currently, pro-abortion Democrats control the U.S. House and, more narrowly, the U.S. Senate. Whoever wins the majority will determine the types of abortion legislation that Congress may pass in the near future, such as a national ban on abortions after 15 weeks on the pro-life side or taxpayer-funded abortions through all nine months of pregnancy on the pro-abortion side.

Polls consistently show that Americans support limits on abortion, including parental consent and bans on taxpayer funding for elective abortions – common-sense restrictions that Democrat leaders want to eliminate.
