Former Democrat congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard made an announcement on Tuesday that she is quitting the Democrat Party and pointed out how it is now under the control of radical leftists.

Gabbard made the announcement on Twitter in a post that includes a short video in which she talks about her reasons for leaving the party.

“I can no longer remain in today’s Democratic Party that is now under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness, who divide us by racializing every issue & stoke anti-white racism,” Gabbard wrote.

The former presidential candidate said Democrats “actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms.”

Gabbard has been celebrated in Republican circles for her conservative views on some issues and her criticism of the leftist drift of the Democrat Party. However, Gabbard is still pro-abortion, despite some comments denouncing late-term abortions.

“I agree with Hillary Clinton on one thing, disagree with her on many others, but when she said abortion should be safe, legal and rare, I think she’s correct,” Gabbard said during the 2020 Democrat primary presidential debate.

The Hawaii representative noted she does not support abortions in the third trimester unless the life or severe health consequences of the mother are at risk.

Gabbard also slammed Democrats for their anti-Christian views and rejecting nominees of faith.

“For too long in our country, politicians have weaponized religion for their own selfish gain, fomenting bigotry, fears and suspicions based on the faith, religion or spiritual practices of their political opponents,” she wrote previously.

“While I oppose the nomination of Brian Buescher to the U.S. District Court in Nebraska, I stand strongly against those who are fomenting religious bigotry, citing as disqualifiers Buescher’s Catholicism and his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus,” she wrote.

“If Buescher is ‘unqualified’ because of his Catholicism and affiliation with the Knights of Columbus, then President John F. Kennedy, and the ‘liberal lion of the Senate’ Ted Kennedy would have been unqualified’ for the same reasons,” she argued.

Gabbard, a Hindu and veteran who was deployed twice to the Middle East, said she saw first-hand the suffering and violence caused by religious bigotry.
