Woman Rushed to Hospital With Life-Threatening Hemorrhaging After Botched Abortion

An employee of CARE (Clinics for Abortion and Reproductive Excellence, formerly Abortionclinics.org) called 911 on September 2, 2022, to report that a 38-year-old, hemorrhaging woman needed to be transported for emergency care. CARE is a notoriously dangerous abortion facility in Bellevue, Nebraska, operated by the infamous LeRoy Carhart, one of the few abortionists left who performs third-trimester abortions.

The employee stated the woman was experiencing more bleeding than usual during an abortion, that she was losing “lots of blood.” The computer aided dispatch (CAD) transcript described it as “more extreme than normal after procedure.” It noted the hemorrhage or lacerations were “possibly dangerous.”

Consistent with usual efforts of abortion clinic staff to hide abortion injuries, the caller asked the dispatcher to refrain from using lights and sirens. The video footage taken by Operation Rescue associates, however, revealed that paramedics arrived on the scene with lights flashing.

Carhart is the medical director of CARE. Now in his early 80s, he has been killing babies for more than 30 years and is reportedly working six days a week. Carhart has a long history of causing horrid injuries to women who have fallen prey to him, many of which involve abortions extremely late in pregnancy.

He is presently under investigation by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in relation to a 35-year-old woman who suffered extensive abortion-related injuries in February. Operation Rescue reported on the emergency in late March. The details, including the 911 recording, are available here.

According to Operation Rescue’s informants, another abortionist, Dallas Johnson, was on duty during the September 2 emergency.

Carhart told CNN in an interview released in March that he was looking for a replacement to continue his work. Johnson has a sordid past, including disciplinary actions going back to his residency and malpractice claims, including uterine rupture and infant demise.

“Carhart is an evil man who has gotten away with countless murders for well over 30 years,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “He continues to kill innocent children and maim their mothers. He knows exactly what he is doing, and so does his successor, Dallas Johnson, who is responsible for this life-threatening hemorrhage. He appears to be an appropriate choice to follow in Carhart’s blood-soaked footsteps, just another murderer!”

In a 2019 interview for a BBC documentary, Carhart, said, “The baby has no input in this as far as I’m concerned.” After being pressed about using the term “baby,” he callously said, “I think that it is a baby… I have no problem killing a baby…I have no problem if it’s in the mother’s uterus.”

Carhart has been making the news for decades. In 2005, he challenged the federal ban on intact dilation and extraction abortion, also known as partial-birth abortion, a horrendously cruel and violent murder of a child (described here). He lost that case, Gonzales v. Carhart, at the U.S. Supreme Court in April 2007.

“It is to be expected that anyone who so morbidly kills innocent boys and girls on a daily basis will, deep down, have just as much callous disregard for their mothers,” said Newman.

As a matter of fact, a 29-year-old woman by the name of Jennifer Morbelli died in 2013 from complications after Carhart aborted her child at 33 weeks gestation. And in 2020, Operation Rescue reported on two cases of women who suffered gruesome injuries and underwent emergency surgeries after late-term abortions at Carhart’s Maryland abortion clinic. The list of abortion abuses at the hands of Carhart and his clinics is long and disturbing.

The residents of Bellevue, Nebraska, are working to stop Carhart and Johnson from killing babies and endangering women in their city. Signatures are currently being collected to ban abortion within the city limits.
