Catherine Cortez Masto Supports Abortions Up to Birth, Trashes Pregnancy Centers Helping Women

Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, a Nevada Democrat seeking re-election, added her name Friday to a radical pro-abortion bill that could shut down pregnancy resource centers across the country.

The pro-abortion candidate said she wants to “crack down” on the pro-life charities, which help millions of pregnant and parenting mothers in need every year, The Federalist reports.

Cortez Masto has an extreme pro-abortion voting record. Among other things, she voted for a bill nicknamed the Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act, which would force states to legalize the killing of unborn babies for basically any reason up to birth and force taxpayers to pay for their deaths.

Her challenger, former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt, is a pro-life Republican.

“Crisis pregnancy centers consistently mislead vulnerable women about the health care services they provide,” Cortez Masto wrote Friday on Twitter. “I joined my colleagues in cosponsoring the Stop Anti-Abortion Disinformation Act to crack down on false advertising about abortion services by these fake clinics.”

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, is the lead sponsor of the pro-abortion bill. In July, Warren demanded that pregnancy centers be “shut down” across the country because they supposedly “torture” women.

Her legislation would impose massive fines on pro-life charities that inform women about abortion risks and encourage them to choose life for their unborn babies, according to The Federalist. Pregnancy centers also provide free counseling, pregnancy tests, diapers, cribs, clothing, parenting classes and more to about 2 million women annually in the U.S., according to the Lozier Institute.

Despite their good work, pregnancy centers have become a target of pro-abortion politicians, the abortion industry and radical abortion activists. Several have been firebombed and dozens more have been vandalized in recent months.

Laxalt came to their defense Friday while calling out Cortez Masto’s radical pro-abortion position.

“Despite the violent attacks targeting crisis pregnancy centers, [Cortez Masto] is spending her time spreading lies and demonizing these charities,” Laxalt wrote. “I’m proud to stand with women who give vulnerable and poor mothers support and the ability to choose life.”

The Nevada race is a key swing seat in the U.S. Senate this November. NBC News described Cortez Masto as the “most endangered Democratic incumbent in this cycle” after a new poll found Laxalt gaining support. The poll also found Democrat candidates have lost support among Latino voters.

The U.S. Senate is narrowly controlled by Democrats, and pro-abortion and leftist groups are dumping huge amounts of money into the election to increase pro-abortion Democrats’ majority.

However, polls consistently show that most Americans oppose the pro-abortion agenda of Cortez Masto and other Democrats. A new poll from CRC Research found strong public support for pregnancy resource centers, including 70 percent of Democrat voters.

Polls also show a strong majority of Americans support protections for unborn babies from abortion – especially after the first trimester. Most Americans also oppose their tax dollars being used for elective abortions.
