Planned Parenthood President Says Killing Babies in Abortions “Will Save Democracy”

Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson claimed Tuesday that the fight to keep the killing unborn babies in abortions legal will “save democracy” in the United States.

In an interview with MSNBC host Joy Reid about the midterm elections, Johnson wrongly asserted that legalizing abortion on demand is popular among Americans while protecting unborn babies from abortion is “extreme.”

“What we have seen in the immediate aftermath of Roe v. Wade is that we saw these anti-abortion candidates continue to double down and pursue a deeply radical, extreme unpopular agenda around continuing to constrain access to [abortion],” she said.

She pointed to Kansas where voters recently rejected a state constitutional amendment that would have allowed the state legislature to protect unborn babies from abortion.

“The majority of Americans do support access to abortion in every single state,” Johnson said, quoting another abortion activist with NARAL. “Abortion is actually going to save democracy.”

Then, she praised Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups for convincing American voters that abortion activists hold the more reasonable position.

“I think what we have done is basically show people what the choices are,” she continued. “You can vote for the people who are really extreme on these issues, or you can actually vote to govern your own body with people who actually support your access to choice.”

But Johnson’s vague rhetoric hides the truth. It is Planned Parenthood’s agenda that is extreme and out of touch with most Americans.

Among other things, the abortion chain is lobbying for a federal bill nicknamed the Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act that would force states to legalize abortions for basically any reason through all nine months of pregnancy, force taxpayers to pay for elective abortions nationwide, allow sex-selection abortions and eliminate parental consent laws for minors.

Polls consistently show voters oppose such extreme pro-abortion measures. LifeNews highlighted 14 recent polls that show Americans support laws that protect unborn babies from abortion, especially once their heartbeat is detectable or after the first trimester.

Strong majorities of Americans also support laws requiring parental involvement for an underage girl’s abortion and oppose taxpayer funding for abortions – Planned Parenthood takes the opposite stance on both.

The billion-dollar abortion chain plans to spend a record $50 million on the midterm elections this fall in an attempt to get its radical pro-abortion agenda through Congress.

Planned Parenthood has aborted more than 8 million unborn babies since abortion became legal nation-wide in 1973. Its most recent annual report showed a record number of abortions in 2020: 354,871, which is about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S. The abortion chain also receives about half a billion tax dollars every year.
