Yelp just did a big favor for the billion-dollar abortion industry as it attempts to stop pro-life pregnancy centers from helping mothers choose life for their unborn babies.
On Tuesday, the online review company said it began sticking a warning label on pregnancy resource center listings on its website – a change that could steer pregnant mothers toward profit-driven abortion facilities, Newsmax reports.
The label tells users that pro-life pregnancy centers “provide limited medical services and may not have licensed medical professionals onsite”; the warning applies to both religious and secular pro-life charities, according to Axios.
Explaining the reason for the label, Yelp vice president of user operations Noorie Malik claimed all pregnancy resource centers are “misleading” and “deceptive” in broad statement to Axios.
“It has always felt unjust to me that there are clinics in the U.S. that provide misleading information or conduct deceptive tactics to steer pregnant people away from abortion care if that’s the path they choose to take,” Malik said.
Approximately 3,000 pro-life pregnancy centers exist across America to provide accurate and compassionate information and support to pregnant and parenting mothers. Their services frequently include free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and STD tests overseen by licensed medical professionals, counseling, education classes and material supplies such as diapers, cribs, baby clothes and formula.
“Shame on Big Tech companies like Yelp for colluding with the abortion lobby in their war on compassionate pregnancy help,” responded Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “Discriminatory labels are not meant to inform, but to scare women away from receiving the support and resources they need.”

Despite their good work, pregnancy centers increasingly have become a target of pro-abortion politicians, the abortion industry and radical abortion activists. Several have been firebombed and dozens have been vandalized since May. U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, even demanded that pro-life pregnancy centers be completely “shut down” in a recent interview because they supposedly “torture” women.
The American public, however, supports their work.
Poll numbers released Tuesday from The 85 Fund showed that 64 percent of Americans support the public funding of pregnancy centers that do not perform abortions. This figure included 70 percent of respondents who are Democrats.
After respondents learned more about pregnancy resources centers, overall support increased to 74 percent. The number of Democrats who supported public funding to these centers grew to 73 percent.
Dannenfelser said pregnancy centers provide financial and material support so struggling mothers do not feel like they need to abort their unborn babies to survive.
According to an analysis by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, pregnancy centers have helped save more than 800,000 unborn babies from abortion since 2016.
“The abortion lobby meanwhile fights tooth and nail against women’s right to informed consent, including hearing their baby’s heartbeat or seeing an ultrasound,” Dannenfelser said. “If Big Tech’s labels were truthful, they’d highlight all the real services pregnancy centers provide that Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry don’t, such as such as diapers, formula, clothing, strollers, parenting and childbirth classes, education and career help, and much more – typically free of charge.”
Helping mothers choose life for their babies is a good thing, and even research by abortion activists supports this. A widely touted project by pro-abortion researchers at the University of California San Francisco found that 96 percent of mothers who wanted but were denied abortions later were glad that they had their babies.
Research by the Charlotte Lozier Institute found an estimated 3,000 pro-life pregnancy resource centers served about 2 million people in 2019, providing more than 730,000 pregnancy tests, nearly half a million ultrasounds, 1.3 million packs of diapers and more than 2 million baby outfits, all for free. Many offer post-abortion counseling as well.
