Americans aren’t buying into U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s ridiculous claims that pro-life pregnancy centers “torture” women and need to be “shut down.”

A new poll from CRC Research found strong public support for these pro-life nonprofits and the services they provide to hundreds of thousands of pregnant and parenting families every year, The Federalist reports.

According to the poll, 64 percent of Americans, including 70 percent of Democrats, support public funding of pregnancy resource centers.

A second question found even stronger support after listing the types of services that many provide, including “prenatal care, housing, clothing and diapers, and empowerment to choose life,” according to The Federalist.

After reading the list, 74 percent said they support funding pregnancy centers, including 78 percent of Republicans, 73 percent of Democrats and 72 percent of independents.

Some pro-life pregnancy centers receive public taxpayer funding through state alternatives to abortion programs. Others operate solely on private donations from their communities and churches. And while services vary, they almost always provide free baby and maternity supplies, such as clothing, diapers, formula, cribs and car seats. Most offer pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, counseling and parenting classes, too.

Jill Stanek, community outreach director for the pro-life organization Her PLAN, responded to the poll by praising pro-life organizations for supporting mothers in need through difficult times.

“With an average client satisfaction rate of 99 percent, pregnancy centers and maternity homes stand ready to continue their vital, life-affirming work, empowering women to choose life, encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and walking alongside them every step of the way – even years down the road,” Stanek said.

Despite their good work, pregnancy centers frequently are a target of pro-abortion politicians, the abortion industry and radical abortion activists. Several have been firebombed and dozens more have been vandalized in response to the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Pro-abortion politicians have been attempting to vilify them, too. In July, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, demanded that pregnancy centers be “shut down” across the country because they supposedly “torture” women.

Then, on Tuesday, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison issued a “consumer alert” warning women not to visit pregnancy centers based on findings in a biased report from pro-abortion groups.

This week, Yelp also began putting warning labels on pro-life pregnancy centers on its website after a company executive claimed the pro-life organizations are “misleading” and “deceptive.”

According to an analysis by the Charlotte Lozier Institute, pregnancy centers have helped save more than 800,000 unborn babies from abortion since 2016.

The research found an estimated 3,000 pro-life pregnancy resource centers served about 2 million people in 2019, providing more than 730,000 pregnancy tests, nearly half a million ultrasounds, 1.3 million packs of diapers and more than 2 million baby outfits, all for free. Many offer post-abortion counseling as well.
