The billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood appears desperate. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June, and the November election does not look good for pro-abortion Democrats.

A new report from Open Secrets, which tracks lobbying and election spending, reports the abortion chain’s political arm, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, has spent an “unprecedented” amount of money on lobbying this year.

In the second quarter of the year, the pro-abortion group reported spending a record $569,000 on lobbying U.S. Congress to pass legislation that would force taxpayers to fund abortions for the military and force states to legalize the killing of unborn babies for basically any reason up to birth, according to the analysis.

Other lobbying efforts included the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Supreme Court and legislation that would punish pro-life pregnancy resource centers for supposedly “misleading” advertising, the analysis found.

According to Open Secrets:

Planned Parenthood Action Fund spent over $739,000 in the first half of 2022 on federal lobbying on issues including abortion access, with about $170,000 spent in the year’s first quarter. This comes after the organization reported a 4,000% increase in donations after the Supreme Court released its Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization majority opinion in June.

The analysis pointed out that pro-life organizations also spent more on lobbying in the second quarter this year, but pro-abortion groups “consistently spend more money on federal lobbying” than pro-life groups.

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion chain in the U.S., but rumblings about instability inside the organization are growing. It has been closing facilities in pro-abortion states (even though abortion activists say more women are traveling to these states for abortions now that Roe is gone), staffers are fighting to unionize, and employees have accused leadership of racism and pregnancy discrimination.

Its patient numbers also have been dropping steadily in recent years amid numerous reports of alleged unethical and illegal activities, including selling aborted baby body partsbotching abortions that killed womencovering up the sexual abuse of minors, exploiting young girls by selling cross-sex hormones and more.

The abortion chain, which technically is a non-profit, still has not released its annual report either.

“Beyond their public statements, legal maneuverings, and political activities, not a lot is known about what’s been going on inside Planned Parenthood clinics and offices this past couple of years,” Randall K. O’Bannon, director of education and research at National Right to Life, wrote this week. “Planned Parenthood has not published an annual or service report in 18 months, making it hard to know anything definite about their revenues, the number of abortion or other services they performed, or how to gauge how COVID impacted their business.”

What is known is that state pro-life laws are saving unborn babies’ lives and cutting into its business. Currently, 14 states protect unborn babies by limiting or banning abortions. As a result, approximately 150,000 unborn babies are being saved, according to the Charlotte Lozier Institute.

Planned Parenthood has aborted more than 8 million unborn babies since abortion became legal nation-wide in 1973. Its most recent annual report showed a record number of abortions in 2020: 354,871, which is about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S.
