Facebook removed a pro-life organization’s page Tuesday that informs pregnant mothers about the life-saving abortion pill reversal treatment.
Heartbeat International, which runs the Abortion Pill Reversal page on Facebook and the Abortion Pill Rescue Network, said the social media platform accused them of violating its community standards. The pregnancy help organization is appealing the decision.
“Facebook is intentionally hiding life-saving solutions from women and ultimately denying the mother her choice for life,” said Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International. “No woman should ever feel forced to finish an abortion she regrets, but Facebook … has put women seeking help after changing their minds during a chemical abortion in the dark.”
The abortion pill reversal treatment has saved more than 3,500 babies from abortion after their mothers took the first abortion pill and then regretted it, according to Pregnancy Help News.
Studies and medical experts confirm the abortion pill reversal protocol is safe and effective. However, abortion activists malign it as dangerous while urging tech companies and social medial platforms to ban the life-saving information. Likely, this is the reason why Facebook removed the page without giving Heartbeat any warning or providing specific information about its alleged violation.

Cindi Boston, vice president of Heartbeat International, said she is concerned that pregnant mothers who are desperate to save their unborn babies will have a difficult time finding information now.
“These ads were taken down along with our page, while companies that sell abortion pills still have their Facebook pages up,” Boston said in an email to supporters. “So why doesn’t Facebook want women to know a second chance at choosing life is possible? And why does Facebook want women to go through with an abortion they no longer want?”
She pointed out that Google also banned ads for the life-saving treatment on its platform last fall, and she promised that they will keep fighting to provide life-affirming choices to families.

It is not clear how the APR Facebook page would be in violation of the community standards, but the Facebook message to Heartbeat International, which manages the APR Facebook page and the Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN), stated, “This is because Abortion Pill Reversal goes against our Community Standards on guns, animals, and other regulated goods.”
The standard on regulated goods states that Facebook does not allow the platform’s users “to buy, sell, or exchange things such as … marijuana, medical drugs, or non-medical drugs.”
Neither the APR Facebook page nor the APRN website endeavor to buy, sell, or exchange medical or non-medical drugs.
Approximately 1,000 doctors provide the abortion pill reversal treatment world-wide, and more than 3,500 unborn babies have been saved as a result, according to Heartbeat. The organization said it receives about 150 calls every month from women about the treatment.
The abortion pill reversal treatment works by counteracting the abortion drug mifepristone, the first of two drugs typically taken to abort and then expel the unborn baby. Mifepristone makes the uterus inhospitable to new life by blocking the hormone progesterone. The reversal procedure involves giving the mother doses of progesterone to counteract the abortion drug. The abortion pill reversal procedure does not work after the mother takes the second drug, misoprostol, one or two days later.
Drug-induced abortions have been increasing over the past decade, and pro-life advocates fear the numbers will grow even more as a result of the Biden administration’s decision to allow abortion drugs to be sold through the mail.
According to the American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs, the treatment works very similarly to a hormonal treatment that has been used for years to help prevent miscarriages.
Research indicates the treatment is safe and effective. One study found that nearly 70 percent of women who underwent the treatment were able to reverse the effects of the abortion drug and save their babies’ lives. The study did not find any increased risks of complications or birth defects.
