Abortion Advocates Make It Easier for Sexual Predators to Rape Girls. Here’s How

Lately, there has been much conversation regarding a 10-year-old victim of rape who traveled over state lines to receive an abortion since the Dobbs decision. The first time it was mentioned was on July 3, 2022 when South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem was being interviewed by CNN.[i] The next big push by abortion pundits was by President Joe Biden himself, when he signed an Executive Order[ii] to protect abortionists and women who travel over state lines to obtain an abortion. Recently, more has come to light regarding this tragic case[iii], but it certainly does beg some questions about abortion advocacy and their quickness to jump on this particular topic.

To be perfectly honest, one must wonder why they are even particularly concerned about the 10-year-old pregnant rape victim, or any minor girl who is a victim of rape for that matter given the pro-abortion lobby’s stance on one particular piece of pro-life public policy – parental involvement legislation. For decades, pro-life advocates have worked around the country to pass either parental notification or parental consent laws. While one of the major reasons why pro-life forces worked so hard to get these bills made into law was that they knew that parents were more likely to be an influence for life, hence one of the big reasons why teen abortion numbers drop.[iv] Another reason is that it is also well known that these laws are likely deterrents for sexual predators who prey upon minor girls.[v]

In the late 1990’s pro-life advocates became aware of a study that showed minor girls who became pregnant were typically impregnated by men who were at least 6 years older than them.[vi] This means adult men are impregnating minor girls. This became another major lobbying point for this type of legislation since it has become well-known that the abortion industry does not report the sexual abuse of minors or sexual predators. Currently, in states where no parental involvement law exists, the sexual predator merely needs to take the victim in for an abortion and nothing happens. In fact, in some circumstances, the abortion industry has helped perpetuate the abuse.[vii] So, the victim goes in gets a legal abortion, then proceeds to continue to get victimized by the abuser. This sort of practice was discussed in a recent article by Amy Gehrke, executive director of Illinois Right to Life and Dr. Steven Jacobs.[viii]

The truth of the matter is that the states that have enshrined abortion as a so-called “right” are willing to turn a “blind-eye” when it comes to the sexual abuse of minor girls and abortions. There are no serious investigations, if there are any, into abortion clinics who violate the law when it comes to the reporting of the sexual abuse of a minor. When Illinois repealed its parental notification law last year, it thrust minor girls into harm’s way. No longer will Illinois parents be notified if their pregnant daughter is going to get an abortion. Furthermore, they might not even know that their minor daughter was pregnant to begin with, which could have started some beneficial questions about who impregnated her. Instead, the state of Illinois is merely leaving it to the abortion industry to do the investigating for them (and the parents). But that investigation will never occur since the abortion industry is about selling abortions, not stifling the sex trade or the sex lives of predators who pay them.

Furthermore, it is also very clear from the statistics that the number of abortions because of rape is miniscule. To legalize it for any reason because of rape is quite a leap of logic. But finally, one must also consider the reality of the unborn child as a victim as well. Ethically speaking, the unborn child has committed no immoral act to the rape victim. The unborn child did not commit the act of rape. It cannot be argued that the mere existence of the child is an immoral act, since existence itself is a good. Furthermore, the idea that committing an immoral violence (abortion) to resolve another immoral violence (rape) is about as logical as saying two plus two is seven. The child has committed no wrong and, therefore, deserves his or her right to life regardless of the circumstance of his or her conception. The child, precisely, because of the circumstances of his or her conception, is also a victim of rape, like the mother. And both victims need to be given justice, not violence.

So, when known abortion pundits, whether they be journalists or US Presidents, are quick to use an example of a 10-year-old rape victim as a justification for abortion for any reason, one must wonder if they have really looked at any of the real-life statistics. It certainly is clear that they have failed to realize that most of pregnant teens are victims of sexual abuse. The vast majority of 14-year-old pregnant teens are not getting pregnant by 14 or 15-year-old boys. The are being abused by sexual predators. Where were these pundits when pro-life advocates pushed for laws that would have helped prevent this exploitation? Where were they when these laws were being repealed? They never cried out about protecting young women from sexual predators and traffickers. Now they want to use the hard and extreme cases to justify the evil of abortion. The fact is, they are more concerned about abortion than really protecting minor girls.
