Joe Biden Hits Record Low Approval Ratings Again Because He’s a Terrible President

Here he goes again.

Joe Biden has indeed achieved records in both job-approval and favorability collapses the old-fashioned way — by being a thoroughly incompetent crank. Democrats may hope to avoid accountability for foisting a thoroughly incompetent crank on the electorate, but that will take a lot more than a messaging strategy. — Ed Morrisey

Much of Morrissey column traces by now the familiar story of pro-abortion President Biden’s colossal drop in job approval. The number compiled in the FiveThirtyEight aggregate is 38.6%–and heading downward. The New York Times has job approval at 33%!

But what’s fascinating is the steep drop in President Biden’s personal approval numbers.” Right now the RCP [Real Clear Politics] aggregate average on Biden’s personal favorability is 42.2/53.9, and the latest NYT/Siena poll puts it at 39/58.”

And on top of that, the New York Times’s Shane Goldmacher tell us

Widespread concerns about the economy and inflation have helped turn the national mood decidedly dark, both on Mr. Biden and the trajectory of the nation. More than three-quarters of registered voters see the United States moving in the wrong direction, a pervasive sense of pessimism that spans every corner of the country, every age range and racial group, cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as both political parties.

No wonder

Only 13 percent of American voters said the nation was on the right track — the lowest point in Times polling since the depths of the financial crisis more than a decade ago.

And, if that weren’t bad enough

President Biden is facing an alarming level of doubt from inside his own party, with 64 percent of Democratic voters saying they would prefer a new standard-bearer in the 2024 presidential campaign, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll, as voters nationwide have soured on his leadership…

Other polls show even more Democrats wanting fresh leadership.

Together , according to Morrisey,

that makes it much more difficult for Biden to get off the canvas, and for Democrats to do so as well. The more he shouts and demagogues, the worse he will do on favorability, which will infect any attempts to rehabilitate his job approval.

Yikes.

“In fact, Biden is dancing with a bleak bit of history,” Geoffrey Skelley writes. His approval rating “is now the worst of any elected president at this point in his presidency since the end of World War II, according to FiveThirtyEight’s historical presidential approval data. In other words, Biden is arguably in worse shape than any other elected president heading into his first midterm election, including his four most recent predecessors, who, like Biden, were operating in an increasingly polarized political climate” [https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/whats-behind-bidens-record-low-approval-rating].
