Another pro-life pregnancy center that helps mothers in need was targeted by vandals Sunday in Michigan, its windows and doors smashed and graffiti spray-painted on its walls.
The crime at the Lennon Pregnancy Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, is the latest in dozens of attacks on pro-life organizations since May when a leaked draft ruling showed the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
Detroit News 4 reports vandals smashed 11 windows and three glass doors at the pregnancy center and spray-painted pro-abortion graffiti on the walls.
Gary Hillebrand, president of the board of directors for Lennon Pregnancy Center, said the crime hurts families in need the most. Last month, he said they helped 97 mothers, fathers and babies, providing free diapers and formula, ultrasounds and pregnancy tests, parenting and financial classes and more. Hillebrand emphasized to LifeNews that they are open and will continue to serve families despite the vandalism. The graffiti has been cleaned off the walls and the windows and doors have been boarded up.
“I think it’s all related to Roe v. Wade coming down from the Supreme Court,” he told the news outlet. “A lot of people are upset about that and taking it out oddly enough on people like us who are trying to help the ladies who are pregnant and need help.”
Hillebrand said almost every window in their building was broken, and their security cameras did not catch the vandals in the act. A local printing business in the same building also was affected by the vandalism, according to the pregnancy center.
Among the pro-abortion graffiti spray-painted on the walls was, “If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you,” Hillebrand said. This threat has been common among the vandalism of pregnancy centers in recent weeks.
Local police are investigating, according to the news outlet.
Since May, five pro-life offices have been targets of arson and dozens of pro-life organizations and churches have been vandalized. Earlier this month, an alleged assassin with a gun was arrested outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh after the man said he planned to kill the justice, according to police.
The Supreme Court is expected to release its final ruling on the Mississippi abortion case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health this summer, potentially later this month.
According to Axios, a recent report from the Department of Homeland Security warned that radical abortion activists may burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their law clerks if the court overturns Roe. The report indicates these pro-abortion extremists also plan to target churches and other places of worship.
