Supreme Court May Overturn Roe Soon Thanks to Three Trump Nominees

As the Supreme Court nears the end of its term, interest among pro-lifers is reaching a fever pitch. Does Justice Alito’s draft opinion which was leaked to Politico, truly signal that the High Court is ready to overturn Roe v. Wade?

Is the Movement’s Step One close to coming to fruition? Will the justices pass the abortion issue back to the states where Step Two begins: passing life-affirming laws without the threat of Roe hanging over efforts to return protection to the littlest American?

Today’s ABC News account by Devin Dwyer, Isabella Meneses, and Sarah Herndon began with interviews with many grassroots pro-lifers. They were allowed to make their case for protecting unborn children. They then turned to pro-abortion Mary Ziegler, a leading abortion law historian at Florida State University Law School, for an explanation of pro-life “momentum” from a pro-abortion point of view.

“There were decades of kind of chipping away at Roe, which have softened it for this final blow,” Ziegler said. “Anti-abortion groups would try to shape who is on the court, but also give the court lots of opportunities to hollow out abortion rights.” She added, “The conservative movement has been around since the eighties, but it’s become a lot more powerful and a lot more effective.”

The authors wrote about a “critical milestone”: the “2016 election of Donald Trump, who explicitly pledged during his campaign to nominate justices who would overturn Roe.” Mr. Trump’s chose three justices with sterling credentials: Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.

The pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute argues there are 26 states “certain or likely to ban abortion immediately if Roe falls.” But there are other states, such as Virginia, where Gov. Glenn Youngkin, “was elected in November 2021 with a platform that would roll back abortion rights across the key political swing state.”

“Listen, we won — and we’ve said all along that I’m pro-life,” Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin told ABC News as he marched alongside demonstrators in Richmond, the first sitting governor to do so.

We’ll continue to follow the Court until they render an opinion and then explain what they concluded.

Whether you’ve been in the Movement for 40+ years. like me, or new to our cause, it’s a very exciting time to be a pro-lifer.
