While the country mourns the horrific mass shooting that killed 21 people at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, some pro-abortion Democrats are exploiting the tragedy to demonize their political opponents.
The Daily Wire reports these include U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, of New York, U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth, of Illinois, and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
On Wednesday, Ocasio Cortez used the tragedy to bash pro-life advocates on Twitter, claiming they support legislation that lets “children be shot in their schools.”
“There is no such thing as being ‘pro-life’ while supporting laws that let children be shot in their schools, elders in grocery stores, worshippers in their houses of faith, survivors by abusers, or anyone in a crowded place,” the New York Democrat wrote. “It is an idolatry of violence. And it must end.”
A day later, Newsom, the pro-abortion Democrat governor of California, went so far as to claim that pro-life Republicans do not care about gun violence against children at all.
“The Republican Party is obsessed with forcing women to give birth but doesn’t care if our children are gunned down in school,” he wrote on Twitter.
Right now, Newsom is working aggressively to expand violence against unborn babies by welcoming women from pro-life states to come to California for abortions – and even using tax dollars to pay for them.
Other pro-abortion Democrats also attacked pro-life advocates with false and misleading rhetoric. Duckworth claimed pro-lifers are doing “absolutely nothing” to protect mothers and babies from violence and death – which is not true.
“Let’s be clear: you are not ‘pro-life’ if you choose to do *absolutely nothing* to save children from gun violence, save Black and Brown moms from the maternal mortality crisis and save Americans from domestic terrorism or ANY OTHER FORM of preventable crises,” she wrote Thursday in response to the Texas shooting.
According to the Daily Wire, a Florida Democratic senate candidate made a similar claim about pro-lifers Wednesday on Twitter.
“I don’t want to hear your Pro-Life argument when you care more about your guns than the lives of our children,” candidate Allen Ellison said.
Republican lawmakers, most of whom are pro-life, are working on solutions to protect children from gun violence. Their goal is the same as Democrats’, but because Republicans’ plans for stopping gun violence are different from what Democrats and the mainstream media want, pro-life lawmakers are wrongly portrayed as not caring about children at all.
Pro-life Americans are mourning with everyone else about the horrific violence against the Uvalde students and staff. Born and unborn, the pro-life movement is dedicated to protecting every human life.
The pro-life movement focuses primarily on abortion because it is the most prevalent, deadly violence against human life in the country today. Every year, nearly 1 million unborn babies are aborted, and, since Roe v. Wade in 1973, more than 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers have died in supposedly “safe, legal” abortions.
