National Right to Life announced its endorsement of former governor and Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin in the August 16th special election for Alaska’s at-large Congressional seat.

“National Right to Life is pleased to endorse Sarah Palin for election to Congress,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Governor Palin is a champion for unborn children and their mothers. Throughout her life, Palin has challenged the pro-abortion mindset that life should be a privilege only reserved for the ‘perfect’ and the ‘planned.’”

Sarah Palin supports pro-life protections to safeguard the lives of unborn babies and their mothers.

Sarah Palin opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortion or to fund abortion providers. She supports the longstanding Hyde Amendment, which bars federal tax dollars from being used for abortions in many federal programs. The Hyde Amendment has saved an estimated 2.5 million lives since its passage in 1976.

Sarah Palin opposes the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act, which really should be called the “Abortion Without Limits Until Birth Act” because it would enshrine abortion in federal law and policies, and it would tear down pro-life protections on the state level including parental involvement and informed consent laws.

“Governor Palin has proven pro-life credentials and she will not back down from defending the right to life in Congress,” said Tobias. “We look forward to working with Sarah Palin to advance vital pro-life policies in Congress.”

Karen Lewis, the president of Pro-Life Alaska, the state affiliate of National Right to Life, emphatically stated, “Sarah Palin is a fearless defender of all human life. We need her in Congress!”
