California Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to destroy any meaningful attempts at communication as well as unborn babies’ lives by calling his pro-abortion agenda “pro-life.”
Breitbart reports the Democrat governor’s office described his budgetary requests to “expand access” to abortions as “the governor’s pro-life agenda” in a May 13 press release.
“While gridlock persists in Congress and right-wing fanatics turn statehouses across the country into laboratories of hate and oppression, here in California, we’re putting in the work to grow our economy and implement real, inclusive policy change to create a brighter future for all,” Newsom said in a statement.
But his plan is the exact opposite of what he describes: It’s pro-abortion and it would destroy the “bright futures” of countless unborn babies.
Newsom’s office said he wants to provide “incentive opportunities for businesses to relocate to California … from states with anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ laws” as well as $125 million tax dollars specifically for abortion, according to the report.

This money includes:
- $40 million to abortion facilities to “offset the cost of providing” elective abortions to women whose health insurance does not cover them
- $15 million for pro-abortion groups to “conduct medically accurate and culturally competent outreach and education on sexual health and reproductive health issues”
- $1 million to develop a pro-abortion state government website with information about abortion
- $1 million to fund research to determine “the unmet needs for access to reproductive health care services,” such as abortion
It is not clear if the $125 million also includes money that Newsom wants to spend to encourage more medical students to become abortionists. However in a separate plan, the governor wants to spend an additional $20 million to provide money for travel, lodging and other expenses to women who have to travel for abortions, NBC Bay Area reports.
All that money – at least $145 million — could go a long way toward actual pro-life efforts, things like expanding prenatal care and other basic medical care that helps reduce infant and maternal mortality, financial and housing assistance for families in need, education, counseling and more. But Newsom wants to use it to increase abortions instead.
Newsom said abortion is one of California’s “values,” and he will “fight like hell” to “protect it” as the U.S. Supreme Court appears poised to overturn Roe v. Wade this summer. He wants California to become an abortion destination for women in states that are expected to ban the killing of unborn babies in abortions.
California has very few limits on abortion, and it forces taxpayers to pay for them. A new law slated to go into effect next year will force all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus. Newsom and Democrat lawmakers also are working closely with the abortion industry to expand abortions in other ways.
California abortion facilities reported 132,680 abortions in 2017, according to the Guttmacher Institute. That is the latest data available.
