“Christian” Clergy Bless Abortion Clinic, Claim the “Life of the Fetus” Doesn’t Matter

Religious leaders gathered to “bless” an abortion facility Thursday in South Bend, Indiana, sending the message that it is morally acceptable to kill an unborn baby.

WNDU News 16 reports the group met at Whole Woman’s Health to pray and “bless” the facility, which aborted more than 350 unborn babies in 2020 alone.

Sharon Lau, who works for the abortion chain, said it’s wonderful to have so much support from local religious leaders.

“You saw how many folks, how many clergy people were here,” Lau told the local news. “It was wonderful to work with them, and we will continue to have relationships with the clergy and the community. They support us but then we can also help them support their parishioners who many come to them for advice or council about their reproductive decisions.”

The pro-abortion religious leaders used the event to promote the idea that people can be religious and support abortion.

The Rev. Marie Siroky, of Gary, claimed most religions do not teach that abortion is morally wrong or that life begins at conception, according to WPVE 88.1 South Bend. A Protestant minister with the United Church of Christ, she even argued that Catholic teachings support some abortions.

“There’s no tradition — there’s no spirituality — that puts the life of a fetus over the mother. None,” Siroky said. “Even Catholicism mentions, when they talk of a woman being raped, in the canons, it says that she should not be forced to have a pregnancy over an act of violence.”

But this is just not true. And rather than using their influence to promote life and love and compassion for women and their children, these pro-abortion religious leaders are promoting death and violence.

The Bible may not specifically mention the word “abortion,” but it does condemn the life-destroying practice. Even in ancient times, babies in the womb were viewed as valuable, as is evident in Luke 1:41. Jesus placed great value on children when others in society did not in Matthew 19:14, and Proverbs 6:16-17 states that one of the things God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. One of the ten commandments prohibits murder.

True Christianity rejects violence and raises up the most vulnerable. It defends the defenseless and offers compassion to the suffering. This is what pro-life advocates, secular and religious, do every day for mothers and babies across the world. They offer struggling families true blessings by reassuring them that every life is valuable.

Yet, in the name of religion, some Christian leaders are perverting the truth and leading people astray. In doing so, they are further jeopardizing the futures of countless children in society.
