The abortion industry is about to get a huge influx of cash, thanks to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul.

On Tuesday, the Democrat governor announced a new “emergency” grant program that will give New York abortion facilities $35 million tax dollars to expand abortions and increase security. This appears to include for-profit abortion businesses.

The Hill reports Hochul created the new Abortion Provider Support Fund in response to the likelihood that the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade soon.

“To truly guarantee that everyone who needs an abortion can get one in New York State, we must ensure that providers have the resources, capacity, and protections they need,” Hochul said in a statement.

Killing unborn babies in abortions will remain legal in New York even if Roe is overturned, but as many as 26 other states will protect unborn babies by banning abortions, The Guttmacher Institute predicts.

Hochul said she wants New York to be a “safe harbor” for abortion, and the grants will help abortion facilities be ready to do more abortions on women traveling from out of state.

According to the Associated Press, Hochul’s administration plans to use an emergency fund from the state Department of Health for the new grants.

Her plan includes $25 million in tax dollars for grants for abortion facilities to expand access to abortion in New York. An additional $10 million will be used to help abortion facilities increase security.

Hochul’s office said they plan to expedite the application process for both grants and begin giving out the money by the time the Supreme Court is expected to release its abortion ruling. Many expect the ruling will be published at the end of June.

Her administration also is working directly with abortion businesses through a new Abortion Access Working Group, which meets “regularly with patients, providers and advocates to guide state policy and respond to on-the-ground needs, and enshrine into law a requirement for health plans to cover abortion services without cost-sharing in the State Budget,” according to her office.

Other Democrat-led states also want to spend tax dollars to prop up the billion-dollar abortion industry in anticipation of Roe being overturned. Earlier this spring, California Gov. Gavin Newsom introduced a proposed budget that would allocate $20 million tax dollars to encourage medical students to become abortionists.

In March, Oregon lawmakers approved $15 million in their state budget to pay for women in and out of state to travel for abortions.

The pro-abortion movement donates huge amounts of money to Democrats’ campaigns. According to Pacific Standard, pro-abortion groups outspend pro-life groups on political elections by as much as 900 percent.

Now, pro-abortion Democrats are panicking after news broke last week about a leaked draft opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

The 1973 ruling forces states to legalize the killing of unborn babies in abortions up to viability and allows states to legalize abortions up to birth. Since then, about 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers have died in supposedly “safe, legal” abortions.

Polls consistently show that most Americans support strong legal protections for unborn babies – more than what Roe allows. LifeNews highlighted 11 recent polls here. A new Rasmussen poll this week shows more Americans want Roe v. Wade overturned (48 percent) than want the ruling to remain in place (45 percent).
