Conservative talk show host Liz Wheeler exposed Planned Parenthood as the group behind the false attacks on a new Florida parental rights law that leftist activists labeled the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
On her show Tuesday, Wheeler linked the billion-dollar abortion chain’s growing work in transgender hormone therapy and its sex education programs to the misleading attacks against the Florida law.
“This was a deliberate effort from an organization who really, really needs this bill not to become law in order to protect their own profit,” she said.
The new Florida law protects parental rights regarding their children’s sex education and specifically prohibits classroom instruction on “sexual orientation or gender identity” in kindergarten through third grade, according to Townhall. Critics wrongly claimed the law targets LGBTQ people, labeling it “Don’t Say Gay.”
Searching for the origin of the phrase, Wheeler said she thinks she found it in a March 2020 blog post on Planned Parenthood’s website. The blog post used the “Don’t Say Gay” phrase to attack a similar Missouri parental rights bill.
“During the 2020 legislative session, Missouri introduced a ‘Don’t Say Gay Bill’ (House Bill 1565 and Senate Bill 786) that takes this a step further. It requires schools to notify the parents before a teacher can mention someone’s gender and/or sexual identity, and to notify them before the can talk about different genders, identities and sexual orientation,” the blog post read.
As far as she can tell, Wheeler said Planned Parenthood is the group that created and popularized the misleading talking point.

And it makes sense why. The abortion chain brags on its website about being the largest sex education provider in the U.S., reaching 1.2 million people every year – including elementary school children.
Through its sex education programs, Wheeler said Planned Parenthood can “feed their abortion pipeline” by encouraging young people to engage in risky sexual behaviors and then come to them for an abortion. The abortion chain aborts more than 350,000 unborn babies every year while reporting billion-dollar revenues.
Now, Wheeler said Planned Parenthood is delving into another child exploitative scheme: transgender hormones – a dangerous and experimental “service” that can cause infertility and other permanent damage.
Wheeler said Planned Parenthood is “grooming children” to make money, so it makes sense that it coined the “Don’t Say Gay” propaganda to oppose parental rights bills, which threaten its business.
“Planned Parenthood actively wants to and is striving to groom young people to become dollar signs for them,” she said.
Last year, a whistle-blower inside Planned Parenthood came forward after feeling troubled by its growing practice of prescribing hormones to teenagers who say they are transgender.
Speaking to author Abigail Shrier, the unnamed employee said the teens receive very little counseling even though many exhibit signs of mental health problems, including self-harm. Rather than provide real mental health care, she said Planned Parenthood treats the teens like “cash cows.”
The employee expressed concerns that the girls do not understand the risks and the counseling that they received is not adequate. She said there is not even a doctor working at her Planned Parenthood facility; instead, an off-site licensed medical professional is forwarded the patient’s record and then “rubber stamps” each request.
The employee’s story echoes numerous other allegations of unethical, dangerous and illegal actions by Planned Parenthood. The abortion chain, which reports billion-dollar revenues while calling itself a nonprofit and paying its CEO a seven-figure salary, has been accused of selling aborted baby body parts, botching abortions that killed women, covering up the sexual abuse of minors, discriminating against pregnant and racial minority employees and more.
Yet, Planned Parenthood continues to receive more than a half a billion taxpayer dollars each year while maintaining close relationships with some of the top Democrats in government.
