NFL quarterback Russell Wilson lives his Christian values on and off the field.

After being drafted by the Denver Broncos this month, Wilson and his wife, singer Ciara, immediately immersed themselves in serving vulnerable children in their new community.

Sportskeeda reports the couple spent Tuesday visiting patients at the Children’s Hospital Colorado, signing autographs, snapping photos and reading their new children’s book “Why Not You?” to the young patients.

“Truly a special day @DangeRussWilson and I will never forget,” Ciara shared afterward on Instagram. “Our 1st Tuesday tradition Hospital visit with the children and families of @childrenscolo in Denver. Our hearts were filled with love and inspiration.”

Wilson was the 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year and a former quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks. But he and Ciara also are famous for their Christian faith and their commitment to saving sex for their marriage in 2016.

In 2015, the couple made headlines for announcing their decision to commit to abstinence before marriage – a rarity in Hollywood.

“And so I’ll never forget: She was on tour. She was traveling, and I was looking at her in the mirror. I was sitting in the dressing room, and she was getting ready to go about 15 minutes before she went on stage, and she was sitting there, and God spoke to me and said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’” Wilson told The Rock Church at the time.

“He goes, ‘I want you and need you to lead her,’” Wilson continued. “And so anyways I told her right then and there, what would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table and just did it Jesus’ way?”

Wilson said he was talking about waiting to have sex.

“I said to her, and she completely agreed: ‘Could we love each other without that?’ If you can really love somebody without that, then you can really love somebody,” Wilson said.

The couple faced some criticism for their commitment, as well as their Christian faith. Both Ciara and Wilson have spoken openly about how their faith influences their lives.

In 2016, Ciara said she was looking for a God-fearing man and found one in Wilson.

“I believe in family, and the beauty of two people committing to spend their lives together,” she said.
