Planned Parenthood Injures Two Women in Botched Abortions, Now The 911 Call Records are Missing

The Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Hempstead, New York, was involved in two medical emergencies last month.  The first took place on February 11, 2022, with the second one just six days later on February 17.

During the first incident, which appeared to the the more serious of the two emergencies, pro-life activists witnessed the arrival of four emergency units. A Northwell Health ambulance arrived at Planned Parenthood at around 10:30 a.m., followed by one EMS supervisor and a second ambulance. A Hempstead Police unit also responded.

The emergency was caught on video by pro-life activist Mike Sweeney and ProBikersForLife.org.

The woman was transported to a hospital affiliated with Northwell Health about a half hour later.

The second emergency on February 17 was not caught on camera, but a witness told Operation Rescue that one ambulance with two employees of Northwell Hospital arrived at the Planned Parenthood at 12:32 p.m. with lights and sirens running.

The single ambulance pulled around to the side of the Planned Parenthood office and left with a patient on board after about 15 minutes, according to the witness, who also noted that the ambulance did not run lights or sirens as it left the Planned Parenthood parking lot.

Operation Rescue attempted to obtain the 911 records through public records requests for both incidents but was told by city officials no 911 records existed for either emergency.  Operation Rescue placed a second request for all calls on February 11 and 17, 2022, from Planned Parenthood to non-emergency numbers at the Hempstead Police and Fire Departments.  Again, they were told there were no records available.

In the past, the Hempstead Planned Parenthood used the 911 exchange, which dispatched Nassau County Police ambulances. It appears that Planned Parenthood now avoids calling 911 to prevent the creation of public records, and instead directly calls Northwell Hospital for emergency assistance. This indicates the probability of a working relationship between the hospital and the Planned Parenthood abortion facility. Because this arrangement bypasses the 911 system, response times are slowed, delaying care for women suffering serious or life-threatening abortion complications.

However, there should have been a record of a police dispatch to the scene of the February 11 emergency.

“It is unlikely that police would respond to Planned Parenthood without there being some record of the dispatch,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.  “There are laws that require government agencies to respond to public records requests and provide responsive documents in the interest of governmental transparency, but the Hempstead city authorities have acted like they don’t care about transparency or the law, which is a disturbing development.”

In Hempstead, when responses to public records inquiries indicate no records exist, there is no means to appeal.  If they were to admit there were records, but denied access, the denial would be subject to an appeal.

“It seems like Planned Parenthood is working with the city and the local hospital to cover up the truth when things go wrong at the abortion facility,” said Newman.  “We don’t know what happened to these women, except that they required emergency transport from a busy abortion facility to a hospital emergency room.  And that’s the way Planned Parenthood and their cronies want to keep it.”

The Hempstead Planned Parenthood is one of 23 abortion facilities, (12 surgical and 11 chemical), operated by Planned Parenthood of Greater New York. According to their 990 tax forms for 2019, (the most recent year available), the abortion organization held assets in excess of $133 million. In 2019, it received over $16 million in revenue from the Federally funded Medicare/Medicaid programs.
