Students at Ohio State University are being encouraged to celebrate Valentine’s Day this year by making cards to thank abortionists for killing unborn babies in abortions.

Fox News reports the event is part of the university “Sex Week,” sponsored by a student organization and several university departments, including the Department of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and the College of Social Work.

The “Valentine’s for Abortion Providers” event asks students to “help thank abortion providers” for their “valuable work” aborting unborn babies.

“Meet SASHA [Student Advocates for Sexual Health Awareness] in the Union on the 1st floor on to help thank abortion providers in Ohio and Texas for the valuable work they do for reproductive rights!” the event description states.

Sky Hart, president of SASHA, the student organization sponsoring the event, said they plan to make cards to send to abortion workers.

“Our organization emphasizes the constitutional right to a safe abortion, however many do not share that belief,” Hart told Fox News. “Because of this, many providers and their offices are often ridiculed for providing legal, affordable, safe healthcare. We feel they deserve appreciation, and should be reminded of the fact they are assisting our communities greatly.”

Another event sponsored by Hart’s club welcomes students to learn “where the U.S. currently stands on abortion’s legality and what we can do to protect our rights.”

College-age women are in the age group most likely to have abortions, and pro-abortion groups often receive friendly treatment from university administrators and professors.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, slammed Ohio State for helping to sponsor the event, saying it is doing a “disservice” to its students.

“Almost always ignored by these sponsors is the fact that you can’t protect emotionally vulnerable students from a broken heart when they follow the false pitch that all consequences — babies included — can be ignored,” Hawkins told Fox News.

She said these school-sponsored events also are a waste of educational time and money.

“It’s pathetic that schools are ignoring their mandate to educate students and instead act as though their real purpose is facilitating the parties. This is a great disservice to students. And a huge waste of money for parents,” she said.

Similar events promoting risky sexual behavior and abortions have become common on college campuses. Frequently, these events feature “experts” from pro-abortion groups and advertise local abortion businesses.
