The image of a peaceful, contented baby girl is showing the internet the life-saving power of the abortion pill reversal procedure.

Heartbeat International, which runs the Abortion Pill Rescue Network, shared a photo of the baby girl online this week, juxtaposing it with another photo of the abortion pills that were supposed to end her life.

“This is what we do,” the pro-life organization wrote, celebrating the “healthy, beautiful baby girl whose life was rescued because her mom called the Abortion Pill Rescue Network.”

The abortion pill reversal procedure has helped to save more than 3,000 babies’ lives so far, according to the organization.

“From the moment a woman takes the abortion pill, she has about 72 hours to change her mind and save her baby,” the pro-life organization states on its website. “The Abortion Pill Rescue Network, through Option Line’s 24/7 contact center, answers more than 150 mission-critical calls a month from women who regret their abortion decision.”

The abortion pill reversal treatment works by counteracting the abortion drug mifepristone, the first of two drugs typically taken to abort and then expel the unborn baby. Mifepristone makes the uterus inhospitable to new life by blocking the hormone progesterone. The reversal procedure involves giving the mother doses of progesterone to counteract the abortion drug. The abortion pill reversal procedure does not work after the mother takes the second drug, misoprostol, one or two days later.

According to the American Association of Pro-Life OB-GYNs, the treatment works very similarly to a hormonal treatment that has been used for years to help prevent miscarriages.

Research indicates the treatment is safe and effective. One study found that nearly 70 percent of women who underwent the treatment were able to reverse the effects of the abortion drug and save their babies’ lives. The study did not find any increased risks of complications or birth defects.

Earlier this month, Jor-El Godsey, president of Heartbeat International, told the Catholic News Agency that 2021 was a record year for the abortion pill reversal treatment.

“Our statistics suggest that more than 3,000 babies were saved through successful APR starts,” he said.

With recent efforts to expand the abortion drug mifepristone in the U.S., Godsey said he expects many more women will seek out the life-saving treatment in the coming year.

Last year brought a dangerous new expansion of the abortion drug mifepristone. The Biden administration got rid of safety regulations that require the drug to be provided in-person after a medical examination. Now, abortion groups can sell the abortion drug through the mail without ever seeing or even talking to the mother.

In the fall of 2021, Google also banned Heartbeat and Live Action, another pro-life organization, from running ads promoting the abortion pill reversal treatment on its many platforms.

At the same time, however, Godsey said Heartbeat saw a growing number of mothers seeking abortion pill reversal treatments.

“The 2021 achievements at Heartbeat are all the more remarkable considering we’ve been targeted for censorship by Big Tech and misinformation campaigns by Soros-funded leftist outlets,” he said.
