Abortion Killed Over 12 Times More People Than COVID Last Year

According to global health statistics, abortion killed 12 times as many people in 2021 as COVID did.

A heartbreaking reminder about the prevalence of abortion, statistics compiled by Worldometers indicate that there were over 42.6 million abortions world-wide in 2021. The independent site collects data from governments and other reputable organizations and then reports the data, along with estimates and projections, based on those numbers. It reveals 42,640,209 people died from abortions last year.

And when compared to COVID, the number of people dying from abortions dwarfs the number of COVID deaths.

Worldomters indicates that approximately 3.5 million people died from COVID worldwide in 2021. There is considerable question as to whether those figures are accurate, as the CDC and state figures in the United States indicate a sizable percentage of deaths from COVID aren’t actually directly resulted from the virus itself, but are of people who had the virus at the time they died from some other cause.

The life of every human being matters and no one’s death is valued more or more important than anyone else’s. Every human being is a unique living person who has value because he or she is one of a kind, irreplaceable and made in the image of God.

Yet, for two years the world has been obsessed with COVID. Our entire lives have been oriented around the coronavirus.

Our lives have been affected with everything from lockdowns to mandates to vaccines to booster shots. Do we send our kids to school? Do masks work? Does the vaccine have any side effects or problems? We have debated these questions and talked about these questions obsessively for 2 years.

Some people have lost loved ones to the virus or lost friendships and relationships because of the massive and intense debate and differences over the best approach to COVID. It’s fair to say that COVID has affected the world in a way not seen since World War Two.

And while the lies of people who have been lost or affected by COVID greatly matter, sadly the lives of unborn children lost to abortion rarely occupy anyone’s attention. Abortion advocates not only support abortion, they readily celebrate it and fight just as hard to kill more unborn babies as they fight COVID.

While the world has been obsessed with this virus, more attention has to be paid to the lives of 45 million unborn babies who were lost last year to abortion. While everyone mourns the loss of life to a disease, there is a monumental difference between a disease that kills people and the intentional and purposeful destruction of human life in abortion.

We need a worldwide movement of people who are concerned about the intentional killing of babies before birth. If we are that concerned about COVID and that dedicated to stopping it why is the world not concerned about something that kills 12 times more people? We have to find ways to prick the conscience of people across the globe to make them care about the lives of these babies and encourage them to do something to stop it.

If we are dedicated enough to try to stop a disease that kills 3 million people why won’t we do even more to stop abortion that kills 45 million?
