Another North Koran woman recently came forward to expose the horrific abuses, including forced abortions, that the communist government is subjecting its people to.

The Daily Star reports “Jennifer Kim,” a 23-year-old North Korean defector, told the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, a human rights organization based in Washington, D.C., that she was forced to abort her unborn baby without anesthesia.

Kim said the forced abortion left her infertile and mentally traumatized.

“So even now, it’s difficult for me to have a good marriage,” she said. “The shame I felt back then still haunts me and will continue to do so.”

North Korea forces all young adults to serve in the military. It was during that time when Kim said she was sexually abused by one of her superiors and forced to abort her unborn baby, according to the report.

Kim told the committee that she was sexually active and she became pregnant at one point in the service. A few days after telling her political adviser that she was pregnant, she said she received an order to go to the military medical office.

“A military surgeon was already waiting for me,” Kim said. “He performed an abortion on me without anesthesia. It still haunts me today. Because of that experience, not only do I still struggle mentally, but I’m also not able to have children.”

At another point in her military service, Kim said her political adviser threatened her with social ostracism unless she had sex with him.

“If I refused his request, I can’t become a member of the Worker’s Party of Korea,” she said. “That means you won’t be able to get a good job and it will be a problem when you try to marry – what could I have chosen? In the end, I was sexually assaulted by him.”

Kim told the committee that she endured other abuses, too, including nearly being starved to death and being forced to wet her hands and then grab a freezing metal pole as a punishment.

Greg Scarlatoiu, executive director of the Committee for Human Rights in North Korea, blamed the country’s communist leaders for these and other abuses, according to the report.

“The abuse the nation’s daughters in uniform suffer at the hands of the regime’s henchmen reflects the deeply-embedded and incurable pervertedness and corruption of the party,” Scarlatoiu said.

Other reports also have exposed nightmarish details about forced abortions, infanticide, torture and other human rights abuses in North Korean labor camps. The gruesome details are reminiscent of Nazi concentration camps and Soviet gulags. Reports out of North Korea indicate that pregnant women have been jabbed with hot irons, forced to lay on the ground while their stomachs are crushed with a board, poisoned and kicked in the stomach to kill their unborn babies.
