Popular conservative commentator Candace Owens described the “staggering” destruction that abortion has wreaked on the black community in an interview Friday with Fox News.

Speaking with host Rachel Campos-Duffy, Owens said she agreed with celebrity Kanye West when he recently called abortion a “genocide” in the black community.

“The statistics are staggering,” Owens said. “The black population would be double what it is today if it wasn’t for abortion.”

Since abortion became legal nation-wide in 1973, an estimated 20 million unborn black babies have been aborted in America.

While abortions harm families of every race and culture, they disproportionately harm black families. Statistics show that while African Americans represent 13 percent of the U.S. population, they have 36 percent of all abortions. According to the Guttmacher Institute, the abortion rate among black women is almost five times higher than it is among white women.

Owens, who is black and hosts a show at The Daily Wire, criticized those who chant “Black Lives Matter” but “suddenly get very shy” when someone mentions abortion.

“Planned Parenthood was founded by a eugenicist who did not want black people to procreate,” she told Campos-Duffy. “Quite frankly, Margaret Sanger, she was a success story. She created Planned Parenthood and she wanted to target people that she saw as not wanting to be reproduced in this society and black people were targeted and had been successful so Kanye West is right to continue to beat the drum and to draw attention to this issue.”

Last week, West told rapper Noreaga and DJ EFN that black Americans “are still inside of our genocide,” referring to abortion. He continued, “50 percent of all black deaths a year is abortion.”

West has pointed out the abortion industry’s racial targeting multiple times in interviews and on social media. In 2020, he described Planned Parenthood as a “white supremacists’” organization that does the “devil’s work” in an interview with Forbes Magazine. Later that year, he wrote a series of posts on Twitter mourning how the abortion industry targets unborn black babies and mothers for abortions.

“Over 22,500,000 black babies have been aborted over the past 50 years,” West wrote.

Research by Protecting Black Life found that 79 percent of Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of minority neighborhoods.

Sanger was the founder of Planned Parenthood, a billion-dollar abortion chain that aborted more than 354,000 unborn babies in America last year. A well-known eugenicist, she described certain groups of people as “human weeds,” “reckless breeders” and “morons” “who never should have been born.”

In a 1939 letter to a friend, Sanger wrote, “We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.” She also spoke to a KKK gathering in 1926.
