Colorado police are looking for an abortion activist who they believe vandalized the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver in October.
Metro Denver Police identified Madeline Ann Cramer, 26, as a prime suspect in the vandalism. Catholic News Agency reports Cramer is an abortion activist who claimed the Catholic Church “hates women” in a recent YouTube video.
Police said Cramer caused significant damage to the church around 7 a.m. Oct. 10, 9 News reports. Swastikas, “Satan lives here,” “white supremacists,” “child rapists LOL” and other phrases and hate symbols were spray-painted in red across the church doors, walls, columns and statues, according to local news reports.
Police asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com.
The incident is part of a string of vandalism targeting churches and pro-life organizations in recent months.

In an Oct. 2 video on YouTube, Cramer said she was raised Catholic and baptized at Saint Frances Cabrini Church in Littleton, Colorado. She criticized her former parish for “actively supporting anti-abortion throughout the country.”
Here’s more from CNA:
Cramer charged that the [Catholic] Church “hate(s) women, you want to control women, you want to silence women.” She closed the video saying: “So stop just be honest you’re not filled with love for God, for the baby, for the woman. You’re filled with hate and you know it and we know it.”
Deacon Chet Ubowski at St. Frances Cabrini in Littleton confirmed to CNA that Cramer is the woman who approached the altar during Mass at the church Oct. 10, just hours after she [allegedly] vandalized the cathedral. During her interaction with the celebrant, she claimed to be a satanist.
Archdiocese of Denver spokesman Mark Haas said they are praying for the people who committed the vandalism.
“We continue to pray for the conversion of those who carry out acts of desecration against our churches, statues and religious symbols,” he told CNA.
According to the archdiocese, more than two dozen churches in northern Colorado reported vandalism, property destruction or theft since February 2020.
“It continues to be troubling to see the increased reports of vandalism at Catholic churches, both across the county and in our archdiocese, and it is certainly unfortunate when our parishes are targeted simply because of our beliefs,” Haas said.
Another vandalism incident occurred Sept. 29 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder. There, parishioners discovered smashed stained-glass windows, slashed tires and graffiti on the church maintenance truck, broken crosses, eggs smashed onto walls and spray-paint on signs, church walls, vehicles and statues.
Pro-abortion graffiti that reads “Jesus [heart]s abortion,” “hands off my uterus,” “my body my choice” and “no wire hangers ever” was spray-painted on the church walls, vehicles and signs, according to the local news reports.
