“National Right to Life congratulates Mike Carey on his win in Ohio’s 15th Congressional District,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Carey’s support for commonsense pro-life policies like the Hyde Amendment and protecting unborn babies from late abortions resonated with voters. Conversely, Allison Russo’s embrace of abortion without limits and funded by taxpayers proved to be a nonstarter.”

National Right to Life was actively involved in working to educate voters in the district on the clear contrast between the candidates.

The Ohio special election becomes the latest election in which a National Right to Life-endorsed candidate defeated a candidate backed by EMILY’s List, a powerful pro-abortion fundraising machine. In the 2020 elections, over 70% of National Right to Life-supported candidates who went head-to-head with EMILY’s List-backed candidates won their races.

“National Right to Life looks to build on Mike Carey’s victory in Ohio and restore pro-life leadership to the U.S. House of Representatives in next year’s midterm elections. Until then, we look forward to working with Carey to fight back against Speaker Pelosi’s radical pro-abortion agenda,” Tobias added.
