Alumni of a California Catholic university are urging the school to cancel a fundraiser that it is hosting for the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood later this week.

Alumnae Samantha (Stribling) Stephenson said the event at Loyola Marymount University would be “an egregious violation of LMU’s Jesuit, Catholic identity.” She recently began a petition at Renew LMU urging university leaders to call off the fundraiser.

“Founded by the eugenicist and virulent anti-Black racist Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the United States and has been caught red-handed in the illegal sale of fetal tissues and has been complicit in sex trafficking,” Stephenson said.

She quoted Pope Francis who has compared aborting an unborn baby to hiring a hitman to commit murder.

“’Is it right to eliminate, to take a human life to solve a problem? Is it right to hire a hitman to solve a problem? That’s what abortion is,’” Stephenson quoted, adding: “We hope you see through rationalizations that ‘Planned Parenthood does more than just abortions.’ The mafia also produces olive oil.”

She encouraged the LMU Women in Politics, which is hosting the event Nov. 5, to cancel the fundraiser and choose a worthy charity that “more effectively supports women’s dignity” and is “not at odds with the Catholic Church.”

“Selecting Planned Parenthood as a recipient for fundraising on a Catholic campus is decidedly divisive,” Stephenson said. “A fundraiser in support of an organization that affirms rather than undermines the dignity of women would be an opportunity to build bridges, bringing together people from all sides of the table in support of women’s advancement.”

According to the petition, the event is a fundraiser, not a debate, which means the Catholic university is supporting the largest abortion chain in America.

The alumni are urging university president Timothy Snyder to cancel the event and stand up for the right to life of all human beings.

Planned Parenthood is a billion-dollar abortion chain that aborts more unborn babies than any other group in the U.S. Its latest annual report, which is publicly available online, shows more than 354,000 abortions, about 40 percent of all abortions in the U.S.

The same report shows that many of Planned Parenthood’s actual health services continue to decline. It provided less contraception, sterilizations, cancer screenings, adoption referrals and other women’s health services than the previous year, mirroring a continued downward trend.

Its patient numbers also have been dropping steadily over the past decade amid numerous reports of alleged unethical and illegal activities by Planned Parenthood, including selling aborted baby body partsbotching abortions that killed womencovering up the sexual abuse of minorsdiscriminating against pregnant and racial minority employees, exploiting young girls by selling cross-sex hormones and more.
