Employees of the City of Portland, Oregon now may take bereavement leave for an abortion, a sick and perverted decision that rewards killing an unborn child.

KEPR TV reports the Portland City Council unanimously approved expanding bereavement leave to include abortions in a vote earlier this month.

The city allows its employees to take up to three days off work after any type of pregnancy loss, according to the report.

The city council members’ action is significant because it recognizes that an abortion is a loss. Unlike a miscarriage, however, the loss is intentional. The purpose of an abortion is to kill an unborn baby, a unique, living human being in their mother’s womb.

Portland leaders are not the only ones with the idea. Earlier this year, the British bank Monzo attracted news attention when it began offering new paid leave benefits for employees who miscarry or abort their unborn babies.

A Boston, Massachusetts councilwoman recently proposed extending paid family leave for city employees to include abortions as well.

New Zealand also passed a law this year to require bereavement leave for parents who lose an unborn baby to miscarriage. The law allows mothers, fathers and adoptive parents to take up to three days of paid leave from work if their unborn child dies in a miscarriage or stillbirth. The law does not apply to parents whose unborn babies are killed in elective abortions.
