When pro-life Americans gather Jan. 21, 2022 in Washington, D.C. to mark the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, they will remind society that unborn babies are precious, valuable human beings who deserve equal rights under the law.

On Wednesday, the March for Life revealed its theme for the 49th annual march: “Equality Begins in the Womb.” The march is held every year on the anniversary of the infamous U.S. Supreme Court ruling to call for an end to abortion and restored protections for babies in the womb.

“The pro-life movement recognizes the immense responsibility this nation bears to restore equal rights to its most defenseless citizens in the womb,” March for Life president Jeanne Mancini said. “Since Roe v. Wade, scientific advances have undeniably confirmed the humanity of the unborn, and today most Americans agree there should be significant limits on abortion.”

The Supreme Court forced states to legalize abortion on demand in 1973, making the U.S. one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. Since then, nearly 63 million unborn babies have been killed in abortions.

As pro-life advocates prepare to march next year, Mancini said they have a new reason to hope. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a major abortion case out of Mississippi, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, that could allow states to protect unborn babies’ right to life again.

“We hope the Supreme Court honors the existing constitutional protections for the unborn as they hear arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. No child’s life, either here or abroad, should be threatened by the injustice of abortion,” Mancini said.

That case and other progress for the unborn have the pro-life movement more energized than ever before, she said. Mancini encouraged Americans to participate in the 2022 March for Life and take a stand for equal rights for all human beings, including those who are not yet born.

“As pro-life advocates, we work towards a future world where the beauty and dignity of every human life is equally valued and protected,” her organization said.

Along with the theme, the March for Life announced that actor Kirk Cameron will speak at the rally and award-winning Christian musician Matthew West will perform. Father Mike Schmitz, host of the world-renowned “Bible in a year” podcast and a prominent media figure at Ascension Presents, will be the keynote speaker for the Rose Dinner.

The March for Life is a peaceful pro-life rally that draws hundreds of thousands of people from all across the United States every year. More information is available at MarchforLife.org.
