A second Colorado church was vandalized in less than two weeks, this time with Nazi symbols and “Satan lives here” spray-painted in red on its doors and walls.
KDVR News 31 reports parishioners of the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Denver discovered the vandalism early Sunday morning. Swastikas, “Satan lives here,” “white supremacists” and other phrases and hate symbols were spray-painted across the church doors, walls, columns and statues.
The Rev. Samuel Morehead told The Denver Channel that the basilica has been vandalized three times since July, but this was the worst by far.
“It was offensive,” Morehead said. “I mean, this was either an act by somebody who is mentally unstable or a true act of hate against Catholics.”
The Denver Police Department confirmed it is investigating. Several reports noted that a witness saw a potential suspect and there is evidence on a security camera as well.
Local news outlets reported that crews had most of the vandalism cleaned up by the end of the day Sunday.

The Archdiocese of Denver released a statement condemning the spate of vandalism against Catholic churches and ministries in recent months.
“We continue to pray for the conversion of those who carry out acts of desecration against our churches, statues and religious symbols,” the diocese said.
At least 25 crimes of vandalism, property destruction or theft were reported at parishes and ministries in the archdiocese since February 2020, including more than 10 in the past six months, the diocese said.
Another major vandalism incident occurred Sept. 29 at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Boulder. There, parishioners discovered smashed stained-glass windows, slashed tires and graffiti on the church maintenance truck, broken crosses, eggs smashed onto walls and spray-paint on signs, church walls, vehicles and statues.
Pro-abortion graffiti that reads “Jesus [heart]s abortion,” “hands off my uterus,” “my body my choice” and “no wire hangers ever” was spray-painted on the church walls, vehicles and signs, according to the local news reports.
