Planned Parenthood CEO: Saving Babies From Abortion is “Cruel,” Dismembering Them is OK

Planned Parenthood is good at propaganda, making the bad seem good and the good seem bad through crafty rhetoric that it is confident will be parroted without question by the mainstream media.

This week, for example, Planned Parenthood CEO Alexis McGill Johnson told ELLE magazine that pro-lifers are trying to be intentionally “cruel” with the new Texas heartbeat law.

“This new law would open the floodgates to frivolous lawsuits designed to bankrupt health centers, harass providers, and isolate patients from anyone who would treat them with compassion as they seek out health care [elective abortions],” Johnson told ELLE in a statement. “The cruelty is the point—and we will not let it stand.”

The actual intent of the law, which went into effect last week, is to save tens of thousands of babies from abortion every year in Texas. The law prohibits abortions once an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detectable, about six weeks of pregnancy, and about 85 percent of the 54,000 abortions in Texas every year happen after that. Texas lawmakers increased support for pregnant and parenting mothers and babies, too, ensuring that they have resources to choose life for their babies.

But Johnson does not want Americans to see the situation that way, nor does much of the mainstream media. They ignore what most people – including many who identify as pro-choice – understand is a complex, ethically troubling issue because there are two lives involved: the mother’s and her unborn child’s.

Instead, Planned Parenthood portrays pro-life advocates’ life-saving efforts as “cruel” while defending the real cruelty of abortion.

“Texas legislators have tried for years to completely—and unconstitutionally—ban abortion,” Johnson told ELLE. “… Planned Parenthood will do everything in our power to fight S.B. 8 in court and ensure that every Texan is able to make their own decisions about their health and their future.”

Every Texan – unless he or she is a baby in the womb. Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit challenging the heartbeat law in Texas, though it has not been successful yet.

The billion-dollar abortion chain also is fighting to overturn laws in other states that protect second-trimester unborn babies from brutal dismemberment abortions. These abortions involve tearing the nearly fully formed unborn baby apart limb from limb while their heart is still beating.

This Planned Parenthood calls “health care.” Saving babies from abortions and punishing the abortionists who make money killing them it calls “cruel.”

Despite Planned Parenthood’s deceptive rhetoric and complicity from the mainstream media, polls suggest that Americans are not buying into their claims. Several recent polls show Americans support heartbeat laws that protect unborn babies at their earliest stage of life.

A 2021 Maris/Knights of Columbus poll found that 76 percent of Americans (including 55 percent who identify as pro-choice) support strong limits on abortion, and Gallup polls consistently find similar results.

Another poll this year from the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research also found that a strong majority of Americans believe abortions should be illegal in the second and third trimesters. According to the poll, 65 percent said most or all second-trimester abortions should be illegal; the number increased to 80 percent in the third trimester.

Americans are not being deceived. Many understand that the real “cruelty” is not against the abortion industry but within it. Through science and technology, it is increasingly clear that unborn babies are unique, valuable human beings who deserve a right to life.
